President Jacob Zuma says he's looking forward to delivering his tenth State of The Nation Address in Parliament later today. The president hosted a high tea for the special guests he has invited at his official residence in Genadendal for a high tea. Among the invited guests were struggle veterans, people who have made a difference in their communities, and young leaders. President Zuma also handed over an award to Miriam Makeba posthumously conferred to her by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. Presidential Correspondent Ntebo Mokobo reports

President Jacob Zuma is expected to address an ANC rally at the Grand Parade in Cape Town shortly after delivering his State of the Nation Address in parliament. Thousands of party supporters are expected to gather in the afternoon in anticipation of Zuma's address during SONA. The rally is the first to run parallel to SONA. · It's SONA day, so all eyes will be on Parliament and the precinct around it. What can we expect and how will it affect the economy and markets?
· Fast forward two weeks, we have the all-important budget speech in parliament. This is arguably the much more important one of the two speeches. What can we expect from that event?

The DA's Chief Whip in parliament, John Steenhuisen, says they have been assured by the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete, that the SANDF soldiers to be deployed during the State of the Nation Address will not be based inside the National Assembly. This follows the announcement by the Presidency yesterday, that 441 SANDF members will be sent to parliament to maintain law and order. Walter Sisulu University management and the student leadership met until late last night to try and resolve their differences over outstanding debt. Registration and other administration processes came to an abrupt halt at the University in Mthatha yesterday afternoon. This is after students prevented university workers from entering the premises, claiming that some students who have outstanding debt are required to pay 20 per cent deposit before they can be registered for this academic year.
