Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan filed court documents at the High Court in Pretoria where in he accuses the Gupta brothers of carrying out what he calls an organised campaign against him and the Treasury. In the affidavit Gordhan denies that he had a vendetta against the Guptas as claimed. The Guptas had earlier accused Gordhan of planning to diminish their business. In the first week of Donald Trump's presidency, his administration has been marked by a flurry of executive actions. On Friday, Trump signed an executive order halting the entire US refugee programme. He also instituted a 90-day travel ban for nationals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen among other things. However, a US judge issued a temporary halt to the deportation of visa holders or refugees stranded at airports following the executive order. It is estimated that between 100 and 200 people are being detained at airports or in transit. Thousands of people have been protesting at US airports over Trump's clampdown on immigration. Mpumalanga residents continue to invade unoccupied land. The latest incident is when a large contigent of police dispersed a group of residents who were attempting to invaded land at Hillsview outside White River over the weekend. The residents claim that government has failed to build them low cost houses on the vacant land for over ten years. Vusi Twala reports.

Parliament's Police Portfolio Committee does not have powers to remove suspended National Police Commissioner Riya Phiyega from office. That's according to the chairperson of the committee Francois Beukman. This comes after DA Member of the Police Committee Zak Mbhele said he would write to Beukman to request that the committee push for the removal of Phiyega from office. Management of Gospel singer Lundi Tyamara has confirmed that he has died at the age of 38 after fighting for his life in hospital. Tyamara has been in a Johannesburg hospital since October the 27th last year. He was diagnosed with stomach TB and liver problems. Tyamara started his solo career in 1998. His ground breaking hits saw him winning at the SAMA Awards, KORA Awards and the Crown Gospel Music Awards. The community of Ntlezi at Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape has refuted claims that it instituted a Kangaroo court that allegedly sentenced two young boys to death. The boys were allegedly forced to choose between stabbing each other to death or hanging. They were accused of killing an elderly person in the village, an incident that triggered a wave of violence.
