On the fifth installment of Sincerely, Yours Truly I decided to share my thoughts on a recent controversy that I witness on everyone's favorite place, LinkedIn. You may or may not have hear of this story, but recently there was a social media post made by the CEO of an online marketing company. Without going into too much detail, this post caused some controversy & set some individuals off. Today, I decided to break down this situation, give my thoughts on it, and share some steps we can take in the future to mitigate these events happening going forward.

If you ask any given individual if they have a favorite teacher, educator, or professor from their time in school, the odds are is that they will at least have one individual that made a lasting impact on them during school. During my years in school there were many people who positively impacted my life (shoutout to my 5th grade history teacher, Mrs. Smith <3), but one in particular stands out to me.

I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Go Mocs!) back in December of 2021, and during my time here there was one professor in particular that was definitely my favorite to interact with. This individual is Dr. Hunter Holzhauer, and although I still refer to him as "Dr. H" I would definitely consider him more of a friend rather than a teacher. It was my honor to get to chat with Dr. H, and I hope that you enjoy our conversation!

On the fourth installment of Sincerely, Yours Truly you'll get to hear some of my thoughts & reflections on my recent graduation from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Go Mocs!). My hope is that this episode will be both interesting & informative for anyone, regardless of whether or not they are planning on pursuing a collegiate degree. Oftentimes, going into a new environment, such as attending a university for the first time, can be extremely intimidating if you are unprepared. However, if there is any major takeaway from my experience in college it is that a little bit of preparation & a proactive attitude can go a long way when we go through new experiences in life.

Following the tragic death of George Floyd in May of 2020 the world was thrown into an immediate social reckoning with regards to how we view one another. Specifically in America there seemed to be newfound momentum for a rebirth of the civil rights movement of the 50s & 60s. During this time period in 2020 I made a promise to myself that I would seek out individuals that are different from me in order to learn more about their experience in The United States of America. Now I have the privilege of making good on that promise to myself with my conversation with Marie Mott.

Marie is the Co-Founder of ICANTBREATHECHA, an organization formed during the summer of 2020 protests to advocate for public policy and social change in Chattanooga. Marie also currently serves as the Chairperson of Economic Development for the NAACP's Hamilton County/Chattanooga Branch. Marie uses her voice and community influence to advocate directly for economic advancement, black business investment, jobs, and fair housing for the local African American Community.
