Informative session about the important personality. Indira Sant was a Marathi poet from Maharashtra, India. Indira Sant was born on 4 January 1914 as Indira Dikshit in the small town Tavandi of Belgaum District, India, Karnataka. Indira studied at Rajaram in Kolhapur, and Fergusson College in Pune where she met her future husband Narayan Sant. In 1940, four years after their marriage, the two published a joint collection of their poems titled Sahawas (सहवास). Indira's husband, Narayan Sant, died in 1946. The pain of loss of her husband found its expression in some of her poems. The principal theme of most of her poetry is love and longing. The love of nature is also evident in her poems. Her poetry further pertains to different dimensions of a woman's life. Indira Sant wrote 25 books. She worked first as a professor and then as the principal in a teacher's training college in Belgaum. Semi-autobiographical articles by Sant were published in 1986 in a book titled Mrudgandha (मृद्गंध). The book Phulwel (फुलवेल) contains a collection of her essays. Ramesh Tendulkar published in 1982 a compilation titled Mrunmayi (मृण्मयी) of Sant's selected poetry. Her poems have been translated into English as "Snake-skin and other poems of Indira Sant" (1975).

हरित क्रांतीमुळे शेतीतील भांडवली खर्चही वाढल्यामुळे कर्ज घेऊन शेतीउत्पादन वाढवण्याकडील कलही या काळात वाढत गेला होता. मात्र शेतीउत्पादन वाढत असताना कृषिमालाला भाव मात्र त्या प्रमाणात मिळत नव्हते. त्यामुळे सत्तरच्या दशकात शेतकऱ्यांमध्ये वैफल्याची भावना निर्माण झाली होती. या पार्श्वभूमीवर, १९७९ साली शरद जोशी यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली स्थापन केलेल्या शेतकरी संघटनेने १९८० मध्ये महाराष्ट्रातील नाशिक जिल्ह्यात कांदा व उसाला योग्य भाव मिळावा म्हणून शेतकऱ्यांचं मोठं आंदोलन उभं केलं. १९ मार्च, १९८० रोजी पोलिसांनी आंदोलकांवर केलेल्या गोळीबारात दोन शेतकरी ठार झाले. या घटनेनंतर या आंदोलनाला महाराष्ट्राभर मोठा प्रतिसाद मिळून शेतकऱ्यांच्या नेमक्या समस्या ओळखून त्याची पद्धतशीरपणे सैद्धान्तिक मांडणी करणारी संघटना म्हणून शेतकरी संघटनेला मान्यता मिळाली.
Informative session about the important personality. Savitribai Phule was an Indian social reformer, educationalist, and poet from Maharashtra. She is regarded as the first female teacher of India. Along with her husband, Jyotirao Phule, she played an important and vital role in improving women's rights in India. She is regarded as the mother of Indian feminism. Savitribai and her husband founded one of the first Indian girls' school in Pune, at Bhide wada in 1848. She worked to abolish the discrimination and unfair treatment of people based on caste and gender. She is regarded as an important figure of the social reform movement in Maharashtra. A philanthropist and an educationist, Phule was also a prolific Marathi writer. At the time of her marriage Savitribai was an illiterate. Jyotirao educated Savitribai at their home. After completing her primary education with Jyotirao, her further education was the responsibility of his friends, Sakharam Yeshwant Paranjpe and Keshav Shivram Bhavalkar. She also enrolled herself in two teacher's training programs. The first was at institution run by an American missionary, Cynthia Farrar, in Ahmednagar. The second course was at a Normal School in Pune. Given her training, Savitribai may have been the first Indian woman teacher and headmistress. Savitribai's birthdate, i.e. 3 January, is celebrated as Balika Din in the whole of Maharashtra, especially in girls' schools.

अंघांना सहानुभूती वा आधार नको, मुख्य प्रवाहात सन्मानाने जगायचं आहे, असा संदेश देणारा सई परांजपे यांचा 'स्पर्श' हा हिंदी चित्रपट १९७९ साली प्रदर्शित झाला. नसिरुद्दीन शहा आणि शबाना आझमी यांनी यातील प्रमुख भूमिका केल्या होत्या. भारतीय चित्रपटांमध्ये विनोदनिर्मितीसाठी वा पडद्यावर कृत्रिम कारुण्य निर्माण करण्यासाठी 'अपंग' वा अंध असलेल्या व्यक्तिरेखांचा जो अनिष्ट वापर होत होता, त्याला गुलजार यांच्या 'कोशीश'ने व सई परांजपेच्या 'स्पर्श'ने पूर्णतः छेद दिला व एका तऱ्हेने खीळही घातली. सई परांजपेंच्या या दिग्दर्शकीय पदार्पणामुळे मध्यममार्गी चित्रपट निर्माण करणाऱ्या दिग्दर्शकांमध्ये एका गुणी दिग्दर्शिकेची बहुमोल भर पडली. यानंतरचे सई परांजपे यांचे 'कथा', 'चष्मेबद्दूर' आदी चित्रपटही प्रभावी ठरले.
Informative session about the important personality. Mahrshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde was one of the most important social and religious reformers in Maharashtra, India. He was prominent among the liberal thinkers and reformists in India, prior to his independence. His greatest contribution was to attempt to remove the practice of untouchability and bring about equality to the depressed classes in Indian society. In 1898 he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Fergusson College at Pune, India. He had also studied and passed the first year law and moved to Mumbai (Bombay) for the LL.B. examination; however, he gave up this course to attend to other compelling callings in his life. This same year he joined the Prarthana Samaj, where he was further inspired and influenced by G.B. Kotkar, Shivrampant Gokhle, Justice Mahadev Govinda Ranade, Sir Ramakrishna Gopal Bhandarkar and K.B. Marathe. He became a missionary for the Prarthana Samaj. The Prarthana Samaj selected him to go to England in 1901, to study comparative religion at Manchester College, Oxford, which had been founded by the Unitarian Church. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, of Baroda, a progressive and reformist, provided some financial help for his travels abroad. After returning from England in 1903, he devoted his life to religious and social reforms. He continued his missionary work for the Prarthana Samaj. His efforts were devoted mainly to the removal of untouchability in India. In 1905 he established a night school for the children of untouchables in Pune, and in 1906 he established the Depressed Classes Mission in (Bombay). Also in 1910 he founded MURALI PRATIBANDHAK SABHA. And in 1912 organised a "ASPRUSHATA NIWARAN PARISHAD "In 1922 the mission’s Ahalyashram building was completed at Pune. In 1917 he succeeded in getting the Indian National Congress to pass a resolution condemning the practice of untouchability.
