भारतात गर्भपात हा कायद्याने गुन्हा ठरत होता, परंतु त्यामुळे किती दुष्परिणाम संभवतात त्याकडे समाजसुधारकांनी व स्त्रीमुक्ती संघटनांनी लक्ष वेधल्यावर अखेरीस १९७१ मध्ये संसदेने 'मेडिकल टर्मिनेशन ऑफ प्रेग्नन्सी अॅक्ट' अर्थात 'गर्भचिकित्सा समापन अधिनियम' हा कायदा संमत केला. काही शर्तीसह गर्भपाताला मंजुरी देतानाच गर्भपाताच्या घटनांवर नियंत्रण मिळवणारा हा कायदा १ एप्रिल १९७२ पासून देशभरात सर्वत्र लागू झाला.
Informative session about the important personality. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar is an Indian astrophysicist and emeritus professor at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics. He developed with Sir Fred Hoyle the conformal gravity theory, known as Hoyle–Narlikar theory. It synthesises Albert Einstein's theory of relativity and Mach's principle. It proposes that the inertial mass of a particle is a function of the masses of all other particles, multiplied by a coupling constant, which is a function of cosmic epoch.

१९६५-६६च्या तीव्र दुष्काळानंतर अवघ्या पाच-सहा वर्षांनी म्हणजे १९७२ व १९७३ अशी लागोपाठ दोन वर्षं पुन्हा अवर्षणाची समस्या निर्माण झाली आणि महाराष्ट्रासह देशातील अनेक राज्यांमध्ये भीषण दुष्काळी परिस्थिती निर्माण झाली. विशेषत: महाराष्ट्रात दुष्काळाची स्थिती कमालीची बिकट बनली.

Ramaswamy Venkataraman was an Indian lawyer, Indian independence activist and politician who served as a Union Minister and as the eighth president of India. Venkataraman was born in Rajamadam village in Tanjore district, Madras Presidency. He studied law and practised in the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court of India. In his young age, he was an activist of the Indian independence movement and participated in the Quit India Movement. He was appointed as the member of the Constituent Assembly and the provisional cabinet. He was elected to the Lok Sabha four times and served as Union Finance Minister and Defence Minister. In 1984, he was elected as the seventh vice president of India and in 1987, he became the eighth President of India and served from 1987 to 1992. He also served as a State minister under K. Kamaraj and M. Bhaktavatsalam.

चंबळ खोऱ्यात दहशत प्रस्थापित केलेले दरोडेखोर हे उत्तर प्रदेश सरकारची डोकेदुखी बनले होते व त्यांच्यामुळे कायदा व सुव्यवस्थेचे प्रश्नही निर्माण झाले होते. मात्र सर्वोदयी नेते जयप्रकाश नारायण व त्यांच्या सहकाऱ्यांनी अनेक डाकूंचं हृदयपरिवर्तन घडवून आणण्यात मोलाची भूमिका बजावली व या भागातील अनेक दरोडेखोर शरणागती पत्करण्यास तयार झाले. जयप्रकाश नारायण यांच्या या डाकू-दरोडेखोरांचं हृदयपरिवर्तन घडवून आणून त्यांना समाजात सामावून घेण्याच्या मोहिमेला यश प्राप्त होऊन १४ एप्रिल, १९७२ रोजी चंबळमधील तब्बल १६७ डाकूंनी शरणागती पत्करली.
Informative session about the important personality. Khudiram Bose was an Indian revolutionary from Bengal Presidency who opposed British rule of India. For his role in the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case, along with Prafulla Chaki, he was sentenced to death and subsequently executed, making him one of the youngest martyrs of the Indian Independence Movement. Khudiram, along with Prafulla Chaki, attempted to assassinate a British judge, Magistrate Douglas Kingsford, by throwing bombs on the carriage they suspected the man was in. Magistrate Kingsford, however, was seated in a different carriage, and the throwing of bombs resulted in the deaths of two British women. Prafulla fatally shot himself before the arrest. Khudiram was arrested and trialed for the murder of the two women, ultimately being sentenced to death. He was one of the first freedom fighters in Bengal to be executed by Britishers.At the time of his hanging, Khudiram was 18 years, 8 months, and 11 days,10 hours old making him one of the 2nd youngest revolutionaries in India. Mahatma Gandhi, however, denounced the violence, lamenting the deaths of the two innocent women. He stated "that the Indian people will not win their freedom through these methods." Bal Gangadhar Tilak, in his newspaper Kesari, defended the two young men and called for immediate swaraj. This was followed by the immediate arrest of Tilak by the British colonial government on charges of sedition.
