    Informative session about the important personality. Karnam Malleswari is a retired Indian weightlifter. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics in 2000. In 1994, she received the Arjuna Award and in 1999, she received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour, and the civilian Padma Shri award. 

    Narayan Bhikaji Parulekar commonly referred as Nanasaheb Parulekar, was the Founding Editor of Sakal, a Marathi daily newspaper, launched in January 1932. He also remained the Chairman of the Press Trust of India. Today, Sakal is the flagship daily of Pune-based Sakal Media Group, which also runs newspapers including Sakaal Times and Gomantak, and sells almost 300,000 copies in Pune district and over 1,000,000 copies across Maharashtra.

He has been translated nationally and internationally, and his honours include the Jnanpith Award, Sahitya Akademi Award, Kabir Samman, Vyasa Samman, Lohia Samman, Shalaka Samman, Warsaw University's honorary medal and Italy's Premio Feronia for distinguished international author.

    Sunita Lyn Williams is an American astronaut and United States Navy officer who formerly held the records for most spacewalks by a woman and most spacewalk time for a woman. Williams was assigned to the International Space Station as a member of Expedition 14 and Expedition 15. In 2012, she served as a flight engineer on Expedition 32 and then commander of Expedition 33.

  • Vyakti Vishesh : Today's Personality Shivaji Sawant and Tatya Tope.

    Informative session about the important personality. Shivaji Sawant was an Indian novelist in the Marathi language. He is known as Mrutyunjaykaar for writing the famous Marathi novel - Mrutyunjay. He was the first Marathi writer to be awarded with the Moortidevi Award in 1994. He wrote a book Mrutyunjay (English: Victory Over Death) based on Karna, one of the leading characters of the epic Mahabharat. This book was translated into Hindi (1974), English (1989), Kannada (1990), Gujarati (1991), Malayalam (1995) and received numerous awards and accolades. His novel Chhava, published in 1980, is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji. He held the post of the vice-president of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad since 1995. He was president of Baroda Sahitya Sammelan of 1983.

    Tantia Tope also spelled as Tatya Tope, was a general in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and one of its notable leaders. Despite lacking formal military training, Tantia Tope is widely considered as the best and most effective rebel general. Born as Ramachandra Panduranga Yawalkar to a Marathi Deshastha Brahmin[2] family, in Yeola, (near Nasik). Tantia took on the title Tope, meaning commanding officer. His first name Tantia means General. A personal adherent of Nana Saheb of Bithur, he progressed with the Gwalior contingent after the British reoccupied Kanpur (then known as Cawnpore) and forced General Windham to retreat from the city. Later on, Tantia Tope came to the relief of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and with her seized the city of Gwalior. However, he was defeated by General Napier's British Indian troops at Ranod and after a further defeat at Sikar, he abandoned the campaign.
