  • Vyakti Vishesh : Today's Personality Rabindranath Tagore and M. S. Swaminathan.

    Informative session about the important personality. Rabindranath Tagore FRAS was a Bengali polymath – poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse" of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial; however, his "elegant prose and magical poetry" remain largely unknown outside Bengal.  He is sometimes referred to as "the Bard of Bengal".

    Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan is an Indian geneticist and administrator, known for his role in India's Green Revolution. Swaminathan has been called the "Father of Green Revolution in India" for his role in introducing and further developing high-yielding varieties of wheat in India. He is the founder of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation. In 1999, he was one of 3 Indians on Time's list of the 20 most influential Asian people of the 20th century.

    Informative session about the important personality. Rajendra Singh Rana was an Indian politician and a member of the 16th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh of India. He represented the Deoband constituency of Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the Samajwadi political party. 

    Sir Surendranath Banerjee was one of the earliest Indian political leaders during the British Rule. He founded a nationalist organization called the Indian National Association, through which he led two sessions of the Indian National Conference in 1883 and 1885, along with Anandamohan Bose. Banerjee later became a senior member of the Indian National Congress. Surendranath repudiated Montagu–Chelmsford Reforms, unlike Congress, and with many liberal leaders he left Congress and founded a new organisation named Indian National Liberation Federation in 1919. He was one of the founding members of the Indian National Congress.He is given the epithet of Rashtraguru.

    साक्षरता, पुरुष स्त्री प्रमाण आदींच्या सर्वेक्षणासह स्वतंत्र भारतातील पहिली जनगणना : 

             स्वतंत्र भारतातील पहिली जनगणना १९५१ साली झाली. प्रथमच स्वतंत्रपणे भारतीय अधिकारी व कर्मचाऱ्यांच्या यंत्रणेमार्फत केल्या गेलेल्या या जनगणनेच्या उपक्रमाला ९ फेब्रुवारी, १९५१ रोजी सुरुवात करण्यात आली. केवळ शिरगणती न करता देशातील साक्षरता, पुरुष-स्वी प्रमाण आदी अनेक गोष्टीचं सर्वेक्षणही सर्वप्रथमच करणारी ही जनगणना वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण ठरली व देशाच्या नवउभारणीच्या दृष्टीने यातून मिळालेली आकडेवारी व माहिती मूलभूत आणि महत्त्वपूर्ण ठरली.

    Informative session about the important personality. Achyut Patwardhan was an Indian independence activist and political leader and founder of the Socialist Party of India. He was also a philosopher who believed fundamental change in society begins with man himself.  The parallel government of Satara was a " Prati-Sarkar" which lasted for longest period of 44 months. It was called 'Patri Sarkar'by some people. 'Patri' was the name given to the punishments administered to the decoits , traitors and people who dared to obstruct the parallel government. The true and veteran leader of Prati Sarkar was Krantisinha Nana Patil , who was arrested and imprisoned 8 times from 1932-1942 by the British Government for his Satyagraha activities in Congress movement. Under his great and visionary leadership the parallel government was established and effectively run in 20 parts of Satara District (present Satara and Sangali districts). Nearly 500 villages were really "free" from British empire.The Parallel Government penetrated into the villages where the Government machinery broke down completely.

    Narayan Sitaram Phadke was a writer from Maharashtra, India. wrote in his native Marathi as well as English. He was a professor of Philosophy and Psychology at Rajaram College in Kolhapur from 1926 to 1951. For many years in that period, he also edited Ratnakar, Zhankar, and Anjali magazines. After his retirement, he settled in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, continuing to write.

    Neil Alden Armstrong was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer, and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Armstrong joined the NASA Astronaut Corps in the second group, which was selected in 1962. He made his first spaceflight as command pilot of Gemini 8 in March 1966, becoming NASA's first civilian astronaut to fly in space. During this mission with pilot David Scott, he performed the first docking of two spacecraft; the mission was aborted after Armstrong used some of his re-entry control fuel to stabilize a dangerous roll caused by a stuck thruster. During training for Armstrong's second and last spaceflight as commander of Apollo 11, he had to eject from the Lunar Landing Research Vehicle moments before a crash.
