भारतीय चलननिर्मितीची सुरुवात होऊन भारतीय बनावटीच्या नोटा व नाणी चलनात :
१९४७ मध्ये देशाला स्वातंत्र्य मिळाल्यावर बरोबर तीन वर्ष चलननिर्मितीच्या दृष्टीने भारताचा संक्रमणकाळच चालू होता; प्रामुख्याने ब्रिटिशकालीन 'फ्रोझन सिरीज'च्या नोटा व नाण्यांच्या वापर करून ओझन सिरीज'च्या आधारेच सर्व व्यवहार सुरू होते. परंतु, २६ जानेवारी, १९५० रोजी भारत प्रजासत्ताकाची स्थापना झाल्यावर चलननिर्मितीच्या प्रक्रियेला खऱ्या अर्थाने चालना मिळाली आणि एक मध्यवर्ती बँक म्हणून अस्तित्वात आलेल्या 'रिझर्व्ह बँक ऑफ इंडिया'ने 'आणा' या एककाची निर्मिती करून १५ ऑगस्ट, १९५० रोजी भारतीय बनावटीची पहिली नाणे-मालिका वितरीत केली.

A member of the Democratic Party, Obama was the first African-American president of the United States. He previously served as a U.S. senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008 and as an Illinois state senator from 1997 to 2004. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from Columbia University in 1983, he worked as a community organizer in Chicago. In 1988, he enrolled in Harvard Law School, where he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. After graduating, he became a civil rights attorney and an academic, teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Turning to elective politics, he represented the 13th district in the Illinois Senate from 1997 until 2004, when he ran for the U.S. Senate. Obama received national attention in 2004 with his March Senate primary win, his well-received July Democratic National Convention keynote address, and his landslide November election to the Senate. In 2008, a year after beginning his campaign, and after a close primary campaign against Hillary Clinton, he was nominated by the Democratic Party for president. Obama was elected over Republican nominee John McCain in the general election and was inaugurated alongside his running mate, Joe Biden, on January 20, 2009. Nine months later, he was named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

भारताचे 'पोलादी पुरुष सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल यांचं निधन :
स्वातंत्र्यानंतर नवभारताच्या उभारणीचं स्वस्वहस्ते असताना १५ डिसेंबर १९५० रोजी सरदार लभभाई पटेल यांचे मुंबईत निधन झाले. महात्मा त्यातून देश सावरत असतानाच सरदारांचे निधन झाल्याने देश स्तंभित झाला. देशउभारणीचं मोठे आव्हान देशासमोर असताना सरदारांसारख्या खंबीर नेता आणि कुशल प्रशासकाची देशाला नितांत गरज होती. मात्र १९४८ च्या डिसेंबर महिन्यापासून सरदारांना हृदयविकाराचा त्रास होऊ लागला होता व त्यामुळे ते अस्वस्थ होते. उपचारासाठी दिल्लीहून मुंबईला आलेले असतानाच त्यांना हृदयविकाराचा तीव्र झटका आला आणि त्यांचं निधन झालं.

Nana Patil, popularly known as Krantisinh, was an Indian independence activist and Member of Parliament for the Communist Party of India representing Beed District of Marathwada region. He was a source of inspiration for the people. Earlier, he had been a founder of the revolutionary Prati-sarkar formed in Yedemachindra Sangli district of west Maharashtra. Krantisinh Nana Patil established a parallel government in the district of Satara. He died on 6 December 1976.

भारताच्या सागरी सीमांचं संरक्षण करणाऱ्या भारतीय नौसेनेची स्थापना :
स्वातंत्र्यपूर्व काळात ब्रिटिशांनी स्थापन केलेल्या 'द रॉयल इंडियन नेव्ही' या वसाहती नौदलाचं २६ जानेवारी, १९५० रोजी, म्हणजे पहिल्या प्रजासत्ताकदिनी 'भारतीय नौसेना' अर्थात 'इंडियन नेव्ही' असं नामकरण केलं गेलं आणि तेव्हापासून हे दल भारताच्या सागरी सीमांचं संरक्षण करण्याकरिता अधिकृतपणे कटिबद्ध झालं. त्याचप्रमाणे नौदलाच्या जहाजांना 'आयएनएस' अर्थात 'इंडियन नेव्हल शिप्स' असं संबोधलं जाऊ लागलं. ब्रिटिशकालीन नौदलाच्या सेवेत असलेले डी. एन. मुखर्जी हे 'रॉयल इंडियन नेव्ही'च्या इतिहासात नौदल अधिकारी म्हणून नेमणूक झालेले पहिले भारतीय अधिकारी ठरले होते. १९४६ मध्ये भारतीय नौदलांनी ब्रिटिशांविरुद्ध बंड करून स्वातंत्र्य चळवळीत सक्रिय सहभाग घेतला होता. 'रॉयल इंडियन म्युटिनी' म्हणून प्रसिद्ध असलेल्या या उठावामध्ये 'रॉयल इंडियन नेव्ही मधील ७८ वसाहती, किनाऱ्यांवरील २ केंद्रं यावरील नौदल अधिकारी, कर्मचारी व २० हजारांवर खलाशी यांनी सहभाग घेतला होता. या उठावामुळे ब्रिटिश साम्राज्याला मोठाच हादरा बसला व भारताला स्वातंत्र्य लवकरात लवकर मिळण्यास मदत झाली.

Acharya Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray CIE, FNI, FRASB, FIAS, FCS was an eminent Bengali chemist, educationist, historian, industrialist and philanthropist. He established the first modern Indian research school in chemistry and is regarded as the father of chemical science in India. The Royal Society of Chemistry honoured his life and work with the first ever Chemical Landmark Plaque outside Europe. He was the founder of Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, India's first pharmaceutical company. He is the author of A History of Hindu Chemistry from the Earliest Times to the Middle of Sixteenths Century (1902).
Alexander Graham Bell was a Scottish-born inventor, scientist, and engineer who is credited with inventing and patenting the first practical telephone. He also co-founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1885. Bell's father, grandfather, and brother had all been associated with work on elocution and speech and both his mother and wife were deaf; profoundly influencing Bell's life's work. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated in Bell being awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone, on March 7, 1876. Bell considered his invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have a telephone in his study.

सारनाथ येथील अशोकस्तंभावरील तीन सिंहांचा ऊर्ध्वभाग, त्यांच्या खालील धम्मचक्र, उजवीकडील वृषभ आणि डावीकडील घोडा हे घटक व त्याखाली उपनिषदातील 'सत्यमेव जयते' हा शब्दसमुच्चय अशी योजना केलेल्या 'त्रिमूर्ती' बोधचिन्हाचा भारताचं राष्ट्रीय बोधचिन्ह (नॅशनल एम्ब्लेम) म्हणून २६ जानेवारी, १९५० रोजी म्हणजे पहिल्या प्रजासत्ताकदिनी स्वीकार केला गेला. मूळ अशोकस्तंभावर ४ सिंहांचा ऊर्ध्वभाग दर्शवलेला आहे; पण परस्परविरुद्ध अशा चार दिशांना चेहरा करून बसलेल्या या सिंहांपैकी पाठीमागील सिंह पुढील सिंहाने झाकला जातो. त्यामुळे यातील तीन सिंहांच्या अर्धशरीराचा भाग बौद्धचिन्हात घेण्यात आला. या सिंहांद्वारे सामर्थ्य, धैर्य व आत्मविश्वासाचं सूचन केलेलं आहे.'अॅबॅकस' वर 'सत्यमेव जयते' (केवळ सत्याचाच विजय होतो) या वेदांमधील मंडुक उपनिषदातील शब्दसमुच्चयाची 'बोधवाक्य' म्हणून बोधचिन्हावर योजना करण्यात आली. सिंह, हत्ती, घोडा व वृषभ यांच्या कोरलेल्या लहानशा चित्राकृतीतून चार दिशांच्या संरक्षणाची संकल्पना सूचित केलेली आहे. जीवनाचा व सर्जनशीलतेचा स्त्रोत म्हणून पूर्ण उन्मलित कमळाची योजनाही यावर केलेली आहे.
