  • Changing Australia: Di Ryder and supporting Indigenous veterans and reconciliation

Army veteran Di Ryder stepped up to the podium at a solemn Anzac Day service in Perth on Saturday to acknowledge traditional owners, only to be greeted by boos ringing out from the pre-dawn gloom.

It was a "disgusting and disrespectful" display, according to WA Premier Roger Cook, especially for a woman who's spent years advocating for Indigenous veterans and their families.

    • Guest: Di Ryder, Noongar Elder, President of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans & Services Association of WA and 2024 inductee to the Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame

  • SA Premier supports federal government's sweeping NDIS reform

States have been left asking what the federal government's reforms mean for their constituents - and who will pay for them.

The South Australian government - last week - said it supports the reforms to keep disability support sustainable - but raised concerns the public health system would bear the burden.

  • HPV vaccine could 'completely eliminate' cervical cancer, says former New Zealand PM

Australia is on track to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035 - thanks to the rollout of the home-grown vaccine for the Human Papilloma Virus, or HPV.

A unique alliance of public and private groups - Gavi - is now trying to replicate that success around the world, targeting developing nations like Papua New Guinea where mortality rates are alarmingly high.

    • GUEST: Helen Clark, Chair of vaccine alliance Gavi and former administrator of the UN Development Programme and New Zealand Prime Minister

  • Richard Marles announces acquisition of more Bushmaster vehicles

The federal government says 268 new bushmasters will be built in Bendigo - in regional Victoria - at a cost of 750-million dollars.

The new vehicles are part of a 1.2 billion dollar spend that'll also see defence force trucks, and other vehicles used to transport personnel in hostile environments, upgraded.

A fleet of Bushmasters has also been sold to the Netherlands.

  • 'Unacceptable' - Michael McCormack criticises booing at ANZAC day events

The federal opposition leader Angus Taylor has defended the Liberal party's decision to preference One Nation ahead of the independent candidate in the upcoming Farrer by-election in regional NSW.

The vote will be held on the 9th of May and is considered a major electoral test for One Nation, following a recent surge in opinion polls.

  • Trump uses shooting for renewed ballroom push

Less than 24 hours after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the Trump administration is using the violence to justify why the White House ballroom must be built.

We look at the contentious build and what's still standing in its way.

  • King Charles prepares for Washington visit amid strained US-UK relations

King Charles and Queen Camilla are due to arrive in Washington D.C. later today for an historic four-day state visit to mark the 250th anniversary of U-S independence.

It comes a day after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in the US capital.

Buckingham Palace says "a number of discussions have been taking place" with American officials to refine security arrangements for the visit.

The visit marks a tense time between the two nations as Donald Trump continues to criticise the Starmer government for not participating in the Iran war.

  • White House correspondents' dinner shooter identified

Another apparent assassination attempt of US President Donald Trump has been averted - in sight of some of the most influential journalists in the country.

President Trump was rushed from the stage after gunfire broke out at the White House correspondents' dinner at the Washington Hilton.

The President said a Secret Service officer was shot at close-range - but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

The suspect has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen - a 31-year-old from southern California - who remains in custody.

  • Looming mouse plague a challenge for some farmers winter seeding

For farmers, in parts of the country, Anzac Day signals the time to start sowing, but there are many setbacks this year.

Dry conditions, increased costs of production due to the war in the Middle East - and in some regions a looming mouse plague - all threaten to jeopardise the season.

  • 'A lot of unknowns' - Disability advocacy groups want clarity over NDIS reform

Anxiety is running high in some parts of the disability community after the federal government proposed a radical restructure of the National Disability Insurance Scheme last week.

More than 160,000 participants are expected to be moved off the NDIS by the end of the decade, in an effort to stem the growth of the $50 billion program.

But there's little detail on how standardised assessments of functional capacity will determine eligibility.
