  • Hopes for peace on second anniversary of October 7

It was the deadliest attack on the Jewish people in a single day since the Holocaust.

On October 7, 2023, the militant group Hamas led an incursion into southern Israel,  killing about 1200 people.

Since then, more than 67,000 people have been killed in the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, according to local authorities.

    • Guest: Yonatan Zeigen, social worker, mediator, and the son of the late peace activist Vivian Silver who was killed on October 7, 2023 in Kibbutz Be’eri

  • 'Good luck': Former Trump adviser's advice to PM ahead of meeting

Israel and Hamas have begun negotiations in Cairo to discuss U-S President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

Mr Trump urged negotiators to "move fast" and called on Israel to temporarily stop bombing the Palestinian enclave.

Former adviser to Mr Trump and US Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, says it is "unlikely" the Gaza plan will happen.

Mr Bolton has also offered advice to the Prime Minister of Australia ahead of his meeting with Mr Trump later this month.

  • Changing Australia: Cathy Olive and saving native bush seed

There is growing demand for native seed in Australia: for things like essential revegetation and restoration projects and the growing number of carbon abatement projects.

But at the same time, the critical native seed sector faces many challenges, including the impacts of climate change and the loss of native vegetation.

The Euroa Arboretum manages one of just a few seed banks in Victoria, harvesting and storing a diverse collection of native seed for large scale projects in Victoria.

  • National health funding stoush puts ACT hospitals under pressure

The national stand-off between the states and the federal government over hospital funding is adding fresh pressure in the ACT.

Health now makes up more than a third of the territory's budget, with aging patients and blocked hospital beds straining the system.

ACT leaders say without a long-term funding deal, Canberra's hospitals risk falling further behind demand.
