When fans were asked to choose between a song he composed - or a song created by AI based on his discography - the AI copy won out.

The New South Wales government has announced its biggest overhaul of planning laws in nearly fifty years in a bid to speed up housing approvals and meet its target to build 377,000 homes by 2029.

Greens senator David Shoebridge has accused the Coalition of being "in denial" about a major UN report's finding that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

The UN Commission of Inquiry report cites Israel is using the direct targeting of civilians, and blocking of aid, as actions aimed at the "destruction of Palestinians".

Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Michaelia Cash, says the loss of innocent life in Gaza is "a tragedy," but she does not believe the report proves Israel's actions in the territory amount to genocide.  

Israel continues to strenuously deny the findings of the UN report.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has left Papua New Guinea without securing a landmark defence treaty.

Instead, the PM and his PNG counterpart James Marape have signed a non-binding communiqué, agreeing to keep advancing the treaty process.

It marks the second Pacific setback for Australia this month, with a $500 million security and economic deal with Vanuatu remaining unsigned.

The two countries delayed signing the Pukpuk Treaty, instead resorting to a communiqué ahead of more talks.
