The Hornell Board of Public Safety has officially declared a Canisteo Street residence a public nuisance, ordering the property shut down for up to twelve months. City officials say two-ninety-three Canisteo Street accumulated forty-three nuisance points over the past year following drug raids, police calls, and two unattended deaths. Remaining occupants have until noon next Thursday, August twenty-seventh, to vacate the premises.
In Steuben County court news, Corning murder suspect Jonathan Rivaldo faces a new felony assault charge after allegedly attacking a fellow inmate inside the county jail. The twenty-nine-year-old is currently held without bail as he awaits trial for the rape and murder of a ninety-year-old woman.
And in community news, food and live music are coming to Allegany County this Saturday for the Taste of Wellsville. According to event listings on Western NY Wilds, the free event runs from one to seven P-M at Island Park, featuring over twenty food vendors, local artisans, family activities, and a food drive benefiting area pantries.
