  • India’s ambassador to the Czech Republic: We appreciate your commitment to Mahatma’s ideals
The past two years have seen a revitalization in Czech-Indian ties, with
intensified cooperation in the academic and business spheres as well as
people to people contacts. The driving force behind this effort is the

ambassador visited Radio Prague International this week we spoke about the

discrimination costs this country 0.1 to 0.7 percent of its GDP each year.
I spoke to representatives of both groups to learn more about the economic
and human costs – and potential benefits – for society at large.

  • Holocaust Memorial Day: teaching a new generation, through the children’s opera Brundibár
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation
of Auschwitz, the most infamous of Nazi death camps. Throughout the Czech
Republic, memorial services are taking place to honour the memory of the
millions condemned to death by Hitler’s fascist regime. It is also a day
for helping young Czechs better understand the incomprehensible tragedy –
through a historic children’s opera called Brundibár, performed at the
wartime Jewish ghetto and concentration camp in Terezín, northern Bohemia.
