Set in an intimate five-row, 43-seat house in downtown St. Pete, Art explores the razor-thin line between humor and heartbreak as three lifelong friends unravel their relationships over one absurdly expensive white painting. Stephen dives deep with Debbie and Ami to discuss the play’s wit, humanity, and why this all-female reimagining brings something completely new to Reza’s classic.

The conversation moves seamlessly from the alchemy of friendship on stage to the importance of respect and professionalism in non-equity theater, as both guests reflect on the collaborative and nurturing environment that Off Central is cultivating. Debbie shares how her artistic leadership and recent directorial success (The Sound Inside) grew out of the theater’s ethos of freedom and trust, while Ami brings decades of professional experience and insight into how the Tampa Bay scene has evolved — with or without that elusive “Equity card.”

Florida Springs Heritage Area, Reverse Springs, and What You Can DoIn E225 Florida Spectacular, hosts Cathy Salustri & Rick Kilby talk with Haley Moody, the director of the Florida Springs Institute, about the idea of creating a National Springs Heritage Area in Florida. Haley’s passion for the springs began during her first visit to the Ichetucknee River. Her love of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) was born during her time at the University of Florida, where she graduated with honors in Landscape Architecture. After a GIS Internship at the Florida Springs Institute, she transitioned into managing FSI’s outreach efforts and now focuses on the direction of FSI. Her dedication to the springs continues to grow as she communicates the challenges that face the Floridan Aquifer.

In this episode of St. Pete SNAPSHOP, St. Petersburg Museum of History Executive Director Rui Farias takes a look back October 28, 1970:  President Richard Nixon arrived at St. Petersburg–Clearwater Airport and delivered a campaign address at the Bayfront Center Arena before a crowd of nearly 7,000 people. The stop was part of a Florida tour supporting Republican candidates Claude Kirk for governor and William (Bill) C. Cramer for the U.S. Senate. Nixon opened his remarks by thanking the audience for the warm welcome and noting that he was the first sitting president ever to visit St. Petersburg.
His speech touched on the key issues of the day, calling for “peace abroad, peace at home, and progress” while addressing inflation, jobs, and economic stability. He emphasized the responsibility of leadership and of citizens in shaping the nation’s course during a time of social change. Nixon also praised Florida’s importance to the nation, saying he had spent more time there than in any other state except Washington, D.C. The event marked a proud moment for St. Petersburg, linking the city to the broader story of American politics in the modern era.
