We’ve got 23 tunes lined up for your listening and dancing pleasure! One of the funkiest is “Throw Your Dog a Bone” by Genya Ravan. She sings, “I gave my best friend all my bread and now she is sleeping with my man.” Not too happy about that one! 😳🐶

💥 Freedom to play what we want – that’s what Radio Wilder is all about.
This week, I dug into some 4th of July music facts. Did you know the #1 rock song played on the 4th is Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA?🔥
Other favorites:
🎶 American Girl – Tom Petty
🎶 This Land is Your Land – Woody Guthrie
🎶 America – Simon & Garfunkel
🎶 American Soldier – Toby Keith
And the top five most musically patriotic states? Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington, Wisconsin, and Utah!
Our show this week is packed with fire-cracking tunes:
💥 The Ramones want the Airwaves
💥 Let’s Work Together by Canned Heat
💥 And a few “Don’ts” – Don’t Get Excited, Don’t Get Me Wrong, Don’t Look Back
All kinds of cool, diverse stuff as we celebrate the 4th. Don’t miss it!
🎧 What’s Playing Behind Those Poker Shades? 🎲
The World Series of Poker isn’t just a card game. It’s a full-blown marathon of bluffing, betting, and badassery! With around 100 events from late May to mid-July, it’s a serious test of stamina. Six or seven days at the table? You’d better bring your A-game... and your playlist.
Every player’s got their soundtrack. Some wear buds, some rock the headphones. Either way, the music is pumping. And while phones are a bit more locked down these days (cheaters never win, folks), you can still jam while you play.
This week on Radio Wilder, we’re dropping a playlist inspired by the WSOP vibe. It’s got Niall Horan, Joy Buzzer, Hawaii Mud Bombers, The Troggs, Willie Dixon, Billy Joe Royal, and Imagine Dragons. Eclectic? Oh yeah. Awesome? Definitely.
🎶 Come hang with us and hear what might be blasting in a player’s ears while they’re going all in for the gold bracelet.
Thanks for tuning in to Radio Wilder, where the beats never fold.

🎙️ Boogers Be Damned! 🤧🎸
Ever try to host a rock show while fighting off a never-ending case of the boogers? Yeah… not ideal. But when the mic’s hot and the music’s hotter, you roll with it.
This week’s Radio Wilder show, lovingly titled “Boogers”, let the music do most of the talking. We kicked things off with Sgt. Pepper’s, flew into the skies with The Byrds, and dropped a stellar Deuces set featuring The Ronettes and The Beach Boys 🌊🎤.
We also cranked up:
🎶 Cheap Trick – “Light Up the Fire”
🎶 Tedeschi Trucks Band – straight fire (and yes, I’ve seen them live!)
🎶 The triple M threat: Muse, Moody Blues, and Moby Grape
🎶 Stones, Doobies, and a cheeky tune from Mark Ribler of Little Steven's Disciples of Soul
So even if your sinuses betray you, the music won’t. Come hang with us—it’s a full-on festival in your headphones. 🎧
🔥 Catch some live music this summer: Mumford & Sons, Bryan Adams, Heart, QOTSA, and more are out on tour!

❄️ Alaska: Raw, Wild & Rockin’! ❄️
I just got back from a vacation in Alaska, and let me tell you—it’s a place like no other. With only 800,000 people spread across 665,000 square miles, Alaska lives large, and so does its music! We put this week’s show together inspired by its untamed beauty, cool people, and the wildlife that roams free. 💎
The snow glistens like diamonds, so naturally we’ve got three sparkling tracks back-to-back:
“Diamond Dogs” – Beck
“Diamond Girl” – Seals & Crofts
“Diamond Joe” – John Mellencamp
And don’t miss this week’s Deuces are Wilder:
🖤 The Shirelles “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” covered soulfully by Amy Winehouse.
🎸 The Godfathers’ “Birth, School, Work and Death”
👑 The Rolling Stones with “Lady Jane”
🔥 Jane Lee Hooker, The Beatles, Night Crawler, Cage the Elephant & Steve Conte’s “Recovery Doll”
Join us as we flow musically through the Last Frontier!

🎉 We’re BACK, Wilder Nation! 🎉
After our first vacation in 7 years, Radio Wilder Live returns—and we’re rested, recharged, and ready to rock your speakers!
This summer, several of us ventured on an epic European adventure packed with history, wild sights, and... gelato. Yes, we set aside $800 just for gelato and came home with almost $600 (not bad, right?). But the real win? The gelato champions:
🥇 Luciano’s in Rome
🥈 Amorino in Italy
And the flavor showdown:
🍨 Harry’s favorite – Fig with Pistachio (with real pistachios!)
🍨 Ray’s favorite – Classic Pistachio
🍨 Marlene’s favorite – Amareno Cherry 🍒
There were days we sampled 9-10 scoops, and others where we didn’t have any (shocking, we know). Rome alone has over 2,500 gelato shops, but trust us—we found the best.
Along the way we:
🏰 Saw an event at Buckingham Palace
🏎️ Drove on the new Formula One track
🏛️ Explored the Colosseum, Pompeii, and the jaw-dropping Sagrada Familia (142 years and still going!)
🎬 Filmed a cameo in Cannes (no autographs, please 😉)
We’re back this week with a BIG TIME SHOW full of travel stories, great tunes, and the usual Wilder fun.
🎧 Tune in, turn it up, and travel with us—no passport needed.
👀 And stay tuned for our next guest in September: Jenny Bortman, President of Universal Insurance Programs!

Ricky Byrd’s new song “Transistor Radio Childhood” stopped me in my tracks.
📻 Took me straight back to being 10 years old, lying on the floor with my Zenith Royal turquoise transistor radio pressed to my ear—falling in love with rock n’ roll for the very first time. 🎸
Before streaming, before CDs, before even cassette tapes... there was this. A tiny radio that turned electrical signals into magic. ⚡✨
Marlene found one just like mine from a man in Philly for $75.... tucked in a drawer for 60 years. It still works. And yep—it still plays rock n’ roll. 🔊❤️
This week, tune in as we remember how it all began—how some of the greatest musicians found their spark in the crackle of a transistor radio.
🎶 It’s more than nostalgia. It’s the soundtrack of our youth.

Wow… over 2,000 responses on last week’s post! 🎸🔥
One of you said it must’ve been the rock 'n' roll story that lit the fire. A real one. And that got me thinking...
What if?
What if things had gone just a little differently for my band, Sonny Farlow and the Resurrection?
🎤 We were set to open for Paul Revere and the Raiders at the Ruidoso Convention Center; TV stars with gold records like Kicks, Hungry, and Indian Reservation. But ticket sales were slow... and the show got canned.
🎸 Next up: Opening for Gary Lewis and the Playboys at Liberty Hall in El Paso. They were #1 with This Diamond Ring, and I was pumped, my younger brother Philip was finally gonna see me play. But… they asked for union cards. We didn’t have any. No card, no gig.
🌉 And then, the big one. Fillmore West. Yes, THAT Fillmore West in San Francisco, where Hendrix, Joplin, The Doors, and so many legends played. We were booked. Ready. Signed. Then two of our guys backed out. One joined the Navy, the other had kids and a day job. Just like that… the dream show was off.
It’s wild to look back and think… what might have been?
But I’m still here, still rocking, and still grateful to share these stories with all of you.
Keep the music—and the memories—alive. 🎶✨

🎶 Flashback Time! 🎶
Saw a post yesterday about 60s/70s heartthrob Bobby Sherman—what a voice! Some of my musician friends used to play in the band that backed him up, including the talented Kenny Smith, one solid bass player.
When I first started playing with Sonny Farlow, we had a month-long trio gig on El Paso’s infamous Dyer Street. Let me tell you—playing as a trio with two seasoned pros like Sonny and Kenny was no joke! I learned a ton, especially how vital it is for bass players and drummers to lock in tight.
We were pulling $90 a night, three nights a week—not bad for the time. One night, the club owner said there’d be a wedding during our Friday night set. Seemed a little odd, but hey, rock n’ roll life, right?
Well... at 10 PM, what looked like a full-on brawl broke out. Turns out the jilted ex showed up—with a knife—and tried to go after the groom! 😳 Luckily, he was subdued, and the wedding still happened. We stuck around and played an extra hour—and the bride tipped us $200 for staying. Not a bad night’s work!
Ahhh, the wild days of rock n’ roll. One more fond memory: I think the club owner liked me—she’d leave a shot of whiskey next to my stool. I was 17. My bandmates were in their 20s. It was a ride.
👉 No knives allowed—but LOTS of music and memories on this week’s Radio Wilder show! Tune in and relive the good times with us. 🎸🥃
