Monica Cutno holds Chemical Engineering and Chemistry degrees from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Monica worked in the chemical industry doing sales, marketing, business management, and corporate finance. She also worked as a business consultant in Bangkok, Thailand for two years. Upon returning to the United States, Monica transitioned to the financial services industry, working for a large brokerage firm and then a smaller boutique firm.
Monica currently serves on Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina’s Board of Directors, the School of Technology’s Executive Advisory Board at North Carolina A&T State University, and as Counselor for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) student chapter at North Carolina State University.
Monica’s passion is education. She is the President of Envision Science Academy, a public charter school she co-founded in October 2012. The school opened on August 4, 2014 in Raleigh with 252 students from 8 different counties in NC. Envision Science Academy’s mission is to provide innovative instruction through experiential learning with a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in order to prepare elementary and middle school students to compete, lead, and excel in the global marketplace.
