BBC spokesperson said: “The BBC strongly refutes the suggestion that any part of the programme constitutes a ‘denial of the genocide against the Tutsi’. There are repeated references to the mass killings of Tutsis by Hutus in 1994 and that this constituted genocide. The programme also includes an interview with the Director of the Genocide Museum at Murambi, a Tutsi and genocide survivor, and a convicted Hutu genocidaire who spoke of his part in the killing of thousands of Tutsis.

“The BBC has a duty to investigate difficult and challenging subjects and we believe the programme is a valuable contribution to the understanding of the tragic history of the country and the region, and of the governance of Rwanda over the last 20 years.”

We, representatives of Rwandan civil society and political organisations, are 

extremely grateful to BBC for producing and airing the documentary ‘’ Rwanda:

The Untold story ‘’. 

The documentary introduced and facilitated a powerful contribution to the 

public debate on what happened during the genocide and in the past 20 years.

We appreciate this action by BBC for encouraging the understanding of the 

genocide and other atrocities that occurred in Rwanda by putting across 

opinions and evidences which allow people to make their own minds.

Genocide was a horrendous national tragedy that all Rwandans must own as a 

society and work together to ensure that it does not happen again. 

BBC has given to the British public and around the world access to evidences, 

opinions and witnesses who have rarely, if not never, been heard not least 

because they have been accused of being genocide deniers.

TOPIC: PAUL KAGAME NA IBUKA BAKWIYE IMISHWARO NGO BBC IGOMBA GUHAGARIKA FILM VUBA CYANE

Au Rwanda, l’association de rescapés du génocide Ibuka, proche du pouvoir, s’est dite « indignée » par un documentaire de la BBC diffusé cette semaine et intitulé Rwanda’s untold story, « L’histoire du Rwanda jamais contée ». Un documentaire à charge contre le président rwandais Paul Kagame, l’accusant de crimes de guerre pendant le génocide, de massacres au Congo, d’assassinat politique et d’être responsable de l’attaque contre l’avion du président Habyarimana.

Dans une lettre adressée au directeur général de la BBC, Ibuka estime que le documentaire nie la réalité du génocide de 1994 et demande à la BBC d’arrêter la diffusion du documentaire. « Nous, rescapés du génocide contre les Tutsis au Rwanda, sommes indignés par le déni flagrant du génocide contre les Tutsis véhiculé par votre documentaire… », commence ainsi la lettre.
