Rage Whale

Drew is MIA doing a book signing for the poetry book we all know and love. Today we have special guest Kate with us who tries to make a beard to pretend she is Drew. Friend of Shed (from Ep 38) where Kate sent in a questions for us and Shed answered, this time Shed sent in a question for Kate and we play it on the episode which opens up a random topic of conversation. We discuss Kates impressive illustrations before James informs us of his hilarious delivery mishaps which are unbelievable. We do finally get to movies, which is a generous word as we discuss ridiculous movies to the standard or Sharknado. But then we start talking about old times as we grew up together in our late teenage years and 20s. An absolute blast to hang out with our substitute Drew.

Drew can't be with us this week. Kev and James discuss many subjects from Mia Goth releasing new info regarding Frankenstein and Blade as well as the potential monster movie universe. Some upcoming movie news regarding Austin Butler. Kev shows James some new vinyls he was gifted which may be worth some impressive value, and James notices a shoe box in his room (he has many) he didn't recognise so he does a surprise unboxing. We review the big new movie of last week; Beverley Hills Cop: Axel F.

A bumper Movie News episode and there's lots to discuss: From new trailers, recent releases and rumours. We accidentally all arrive on screen wearing grey, the most boring of all the colours, or is it the most provocative? Definitely boring! We discuss 'The Bear' which was released this week, one of the most exceptional series in recent history. Also bring up Tilda Swinton who has this week both been asleep in an Art Installation as well as raving with Orbital at Glastonbury. Kevin discusses the disappointingly pretentious 'Kinds Of Kindness' that he was hoping to love as much as 'Poor Things' but it wasn't to be. We then discuss what we are looking forward to over the next 2 weeks with 3 potentially groundbreaking Horrors that sound like they have the potential to be classics if the hype is real. Fingers crossed.

James shows us 'The Stick' song, if you know you know. A brief mention of Glastonbury and Mental Health which we would love to explore more in future episodes and we wonder if Drew's Wife has listened to the Pod. Kev and Drew have been to the cinema with their partners this week to watch 'A Quiet Place: Day One' & 'The Bikeriders' so we discuss our thoughts in some detail. We both think these cinema releases were mostly outstanding.

The new Blade film is having issues being made so we reflect on all the other Vampire Movies we love and hate. Then we discuss the new series of 'The Boys' still hitting us hard with the gore and disgusting scenes whilst being entertaining and thought provoking. Kev's friend JD is messaging him from a gig he should be at but was too ill to go and Kate messages about a mannequin dilemma and we discuss her sexy, sombrero wearing Roomba. We reflect on Gareths question from last week on Drew doing accents but focussing on the UK as he preferred. We end with a heated debate but luckily James has great news with the football that drastically changes the mood in the closing moments of the episode.

We start by listening to 'Across 110th Street' by Bobby Womack on Vinyl from the 'Jackie Brown' soundtrack. James is substituted by M. Night Teddy Bear who loves to dance and who has seen the Pope in the woods. This is our return after a week of illness and we discuss a couple of films we have recently seen but especially Bad Boys as that was the last movie we saw in the cinema. We also go down a Wesley Snipes rabbit hole which brings up a lot of memories of great films.

In this BONUS episode we continue our chat with Shed and have a quiz themed on one of her favourite directors Guy Ritchie.

We have mentioned Shed many times on the podcast before as we have some friends with unusual nicknames. Sara is now a guest on today's episode where we reminisce over the good old days of hanging out and house parties. We mention her unusual phobia, injuries and forced fun. She also shows us her 'Whale' themed Mug which was a nice coincidence.

None of us are feeling well but you wouldn't know it from this week's episode. Though the following week it caught up hard. We discuss a cinema movie and a new Netflix movie briefly and end up going into subjects we promised we wouldn't.

We had to spend more time with Michael as the conversation was flowing and we also decide we want to have him back as a regular featured guest. This is the 2nd half of our episode with our special guest Michael who introduced The Crow to Kev back in the 90s when he showed him all the Brandon Lee and Bruce Lee movies. Very few people know more about The Crow than Michael so we dig deep on one of the greatest movies to ever exist. We also discuss other subjects including Tarantino movies and then what new movies that are coming out in the future that we are really looking forward to seeing.
