If you are a hunter, then you have seen the comments on a massive amount of posts across social media. People claiming that every big deer that gets harvested, is shot in a high fence. High fence hunting is a very controversial topic in the hunting world, and leads to a lot of criticism. We wanted to bring this topic to light and break down our opinions on high fence hunting. We pride ourselves on our hunting ability in a fair chase environment and wanted to dive deeper into what classifies "high fence" hunting.  We also discuss future hunts on our bucket lists. We go over where we would draw the lines on hunting those species based on the areas they have to roam. Let us know where you stand on the idea of high fence hunting. 

Nearly every hunter has dreamt of killing a 170" deer. Few hunters hit that special number, even fewer manage to do it consistently.  Tyler has not broke the 170 mark, but he has done it 8 times including a 200"+. Three of these impressive deer came from this past whitetail season. Tyler brings his bucks in, and sits down with us to talk about their stories, break down strategies, and talk whitetails with us.  From urban hunting to knocking on doors, we cover it all! 

When you are surrounded by family and friends who hunt, it can be easy to begin expressing interest in getting involved. You may start small, going out with your family on a push at a young age, or start later in life. As we progress, we begin to set goals, for our buddy Joey Kapsch, that goal was to harvest a deer with his bow. From getting his first bow in May of this year, to battling through a tough deer season, Joey learned what it takes to be a bow hunter.  From day one of his hunting career, all the way to the day he tagged out, Joey sat down with us breaking down his expectations, his emotions, and his excitement of his thrilling experience of harvesting his first ever animals with a bow!

It is one of the most controversial topics in the hunting world, the battle of legal versus ethical. It can be said for many hunters, we have come across a wounded animal in a fence, an animal that has been hit by a vehicle, or a big buck dead on our property. The battle of "what should I do", starts playing in your head. if the animal is wounded, is it right to put your tag on it? If the animal is found dead on your property, how many neighbors are you going to call before trying to get a salvage tag from the DNR? We do our best to cover all those topics and more. We pride ourselves, as hunters, to be ethical and abide by the laws put in place to keep our passion for the outdoors. But we want to know, what would you do?

Deer hunters are a different breed. Once you get hit with buck fever, you are sick for life! For us the season is a nonstop, 365 day journey, no matter how much you are in a stand. With the season coming to an end, there is plenty of work to be done to prepare for the next one. We wanted to give you guys some insight on how we prepare for the next season and what to look for. From gaining access to new ground, to keeping trail-cameras out, to shed hunting for your next target buck, we break it all down for you! Late season hunting can be brutal at times, but when you get to hunt with your buddies, it makes it all worth while. It makes the sits seem timeless, the weather more tolerable, and everything more exciting. Our buddy David Mitchell aka "Mitch" comes up from Arkansas to muzzleload hunt during late season to fill a tag. From hunting with him down in Arkansas, to having him shoot his one and only Boone and Crocket buck, Mitch has been with Raised Hunting since the beginning.  We sat him down to talk about all the good times we have had hunting together, and the what its like hunting in Arkansas. From hunting deer in the flooded marsh, to snowy corn fields, we got it all covered!

It is a brutal part of hunting that we have all been through. Whether you have been hunting for a few years or many, you are bound to miss. It could be on your first animal or your biggest animal, but you will have them. What it comes down to is what caused that miss? Were you just amped with adrenaline, did you miss judge the yardage? We wanted to break down the "why". We break down some of our most notable misses and attempt to analyze what what did wrong.

Depending on what state you live in, hunting land can be hard to come by. You may be in a state where urban expansion takes over, and hunting ground is only in small chunks. Other states may only have a small amount of land set a side for public access and that can become crowded fast. There comes a time in every hunter's life where they find them selves wanting their own ground to hunt with out having to deal with a ton of intrusions during the season.  However, are there still opportunities to get that? Are hunting shows  and outfitters taking up too much land? Has gaining access become a money game? We wanted to tackle the debate on gaining access to private ground. We have dealt with every aspect of the game from hunting public, to leasing ground, to simply knocking on doors for permission. The question still remains, can you gain access to your own ground?

We hunt for the passion of the outdoors, the escape from the work week, to create memories with friends, and of course, the thrill of the hunt. The animals we harvest have meaning to us all. They are sources of food, excitement, and achievement. Many people, from the outside looking in, just see hunters as "trophy hunters", thinking we are only in it for the reward of antlers or a fan to put on our walls. In a way, all hunters are trophy hunters, whether it be the fact that you punched your tag for the season, or you have crossed off the next stage of your hunting life. The word "trophy" can mean so much to each hunter that steps foot into the wild every season. In this episode we wanted to see if we could define what a "trophy" in the hunting world means to not just us, but all hunters. We will all see the meaning differently, so what is a trophy to you?

For most of us across the country, our primary bow season has come to an end. A lot of us have been able to put our tags on some pretty awesome deer and are able to look back on this season with a full freezer.  Some of us may not have been so luck yet, or just don't want to quit hunting till that last true day of deer season. For those people who are on either side of that line, you better be ready to embrace the cold! Hunting those late season bucks can be a challenge, freezing temperatures, late day movement, and trying to find their food source can make for some hard days in the stand. We wanted to give you guys our best strategies for hunting those late season bucks, whether you are hunting with a gun or a bow.
