Is your daughter ready to start wearing a bra? Has her body started to change? Are those breast buds starting to appear? If you are asking these questions, today's episode is for you!
Today we are talking about if your daughter is ready to start wearing a bra. Oh man, getting a bra is a big deal. It is exciting, it is scary, it is embarrassing….it is all of those things wrapped up in one big ball of emotions. Likely you have either noticed that your girl’s chest is looking a little differently or you anticipate that it will start looking differently very soon.
Getting breast buds is one of the very first signs that puberty has begun. Puberty! I know, I know. It is a scary word. Don’t worry, I have you covered. GirlTribe Nation offers a class for tween girls all about puberty - what is and how it works. It is an online class and we are getting ready to start a new session January 7. It is going to be an online class that you can give to your girl packed full of helpful information to introduce her to what is happening in her body.

Breast buds are the way that her body starts to alert her and you that these changes have begun. Breast buds can make her breasts feel a little tender and she might complain about her breasts hurting. Usually tweens really start to notice this when they lay down to go to bed or when they first wake up in the morning. The next part of the breast development will come as her nipples and areolas start to darken and get larger. When her breasts start growing, this is a great time to start talking about bras. Training bras are a great place to start.
I also have a really helpful cheat sheet that you can download if you would like a few ideas of how she can handle boys or even men staring at her breasts or saying something about them. You can access this free resource at GirlTribeNation.com/catcalls. I also want to invite you to go back and listen to our Raising Amazing Tween Girls Episode 014 on How To Teach You Tween To Dress Modestly.
