While technology is a wonderful convenience and a great tool, is it standing in the way of real human connection and understanding. Does it bridge a communication gap or create more isolation or both? Words are only one layer of the communication process and when we strip out heart, passion, emotion, body language, eye contact...often the meaning gets lost in translation. No wonder with modern technology that we often miscommunicate and misinterpret what others are trying to say. I invite you to explore with me the art of communicating.
My husband and I went on a vacation that felt like a staycation with an added complication of too much cell phone communication. I share what I learned about cellphones, relationships, and vacations.
In this episode I explore curiosity and getting out of the box. How do we find purpose, passion, inspiration? I believe that one way to create fresh opportunities and new direction for ourselves is by asking more questions and exercising our muscle of "curiosity". As kids, we are curious about many things - always exploring. As adults, many stop engaging our curious mind and simply settle into the familiar, old habits, and routines. As a result, we stop growing new perspectives, ourselves, our exposure and knowledge. Our mind talks us out of change, taking risks, and trying new things. Some of the most fulfilled, happiest and passion-filled people I know, make it a habit to push outside their comfort zone on a regular basis.
In this episode, I examine why it is so difficult for women to set boundaries and say "no" without feeling guilty. What is it about the biology of a woman that has so many of us running ragged trying to juggle it all? As women, we are so capable and so adaptable that we often take on too much and find ourselves depleted and exhausted. If you want to get off that train, I share how to do it.
I don't think it is necessary to over complicate the road to health and wellness. I believe that we can do 10 simple things in our daily awareness and choices that can make a big difference. When we get overly ambitious with our goals, too vague or have too much information, it's easy to let our good intentions fade away and old habits take over. We go back to not exercising, poor food choices, and negative self talk. I believe that any step in making better choices and jump starting our energy levels is the right step! So no need to look any further to find your mojo - it's been with you all along!
How easy it is to make judgements about others...and with the stroke of a keyboard put that opinion out for the world to see. This podcast is about my own reflection of how quickly and easily I could form an opinion with very little factual information. I had watched a docudrama about MacDonald's founder, Ray Kroc. Was he a brilliant business man or just someone who wanted success at all costs? We all view the world through our own lens built upon our experiences. It's important to understand that view can be a narrow one depending on your vantage point!
This is my final episode in the three part series: mind, spirit, and body. In this episode, I share my personal journey through cancer treatment and what I did to thrive during chemotherapy. My hope is to give you the courage to have a voice, ask questions, challenge protocols, trust your instincts, and do what you think is right. You are your best advocate and no one can know your body as well as you.

At first blush this question may sound ridiculous depending on your perspective. I had been working hard on my spiritual journey when someone said that to me. I had to think about it awhile. What this person meant when they said this is that if you use this journey as a time to reflect and grow, heal relationships, reprioritize what is truly important, hit the reset button, and tell your story then you have been given an opportunity that other people don't get to experience. It is a way of saying when you get through this, you get a second chance to live better. This episode shares my reflections with this in mind.
In this episode I will be addressing the first part of a three part series. Many people have asked me how I survived and thrived during my journey through breast cancer. During treatment people asked me why I didn't look sick or where I found the energy to go to the gym and lift weights. I decided the easiest way to share was to break this into three episodes. They are divided into the mind, the spirit, and the body. Each podcast will address one section. So what I mean by the mind is the analytical and practical mind set that is detached from emotion. This is about wrapping your head around the facts, gathering information, and having the conviction to win the fight.
