"The worlds are something like remote planets; except that most of them are much bigger than mere planets, and they are not remote. Neither are they nearby. They are not at any spatial distance whatever from here. They are not far in the past or future, nor for that matter near; they are not at any temporal distance whatever from now. They are isolated: there are no spatiotemporal relations at all between things that belong to different worlds. Nor does anything that happens at one world cause anything to happen at another. Nor do they overlap; they have no parts in common, with the exception, perhaps, of immanent universals exercising their characteristic privilege of repeated occurrence." (David K. Lewis, On the Plurality of Worlds)

"This is the old Platonic riddle of nonbeing. Nonbeing must in some sense be, otherwise what is it that there is not? This tangled doctrine might be nicknamed Plato’s beard; historically it has proved tough, frequently dulling the edge of Occam’s razor". (Willard Van Orman Quine, On What There Is)

"Dies ist Wahrheit; darum zäumen

Wollen wir den rauhen Mut,

Diesen Ehrgeiz, diese Wut,

Wenn wir wieder einmal träumen.

Wohl geschieht's; denn in den Räumen

Dieser Wunderwelt ist eben

Nur ein Traum das ganze Leben;

Und der Mensch (das seh' ich nun)

Träumt sein ganzes Sein und Thun,

Bis zuletzt die Träum' entschweben."

A syncopation of fear

"Interference theory is theory regarding human memory. Interference occurs in learning when there is an interaction between the new material and transfer effects of past learned behavior, memories or thoughts that have a negative influence in comprehending the new material.[1] Bringing to memory old knowledge has the effect of impairing both the speed of learning and memory performance."
