Call them country, call them alternative, call them rock.  Just don't call them average!  Since 1994, the Chicago-based band led by Jeff Tweedy have slowly gained a following and been adored by fans even to this very day.  They have won Grammies, critical acclaim, and even a key to the city of Duluth, MN (where they also have their own day every year because the mayor at the time was a huge fan).  Join me on a journey from "A.M." to "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" to "Star Wars" (the album, not the movie franchise) and so much more in between.  And of course, see where I rank their albums from worst (?) to best!

Since forming in 1988, Deftones have been hailed by many as one of the best hard rock bands of all time.  In the age of Nu-Metal, with the exception of Linkin Park and KoRn, Deftones are the only band one can listen to to this very day without feeling guilty.  Because they've delivered since Album #1.  As of today, Deftones released 9 albums, 3 different IPAs and amassed millions of die-hard fans.  As is the case of most bands, this was not without either controversy or (in the case of this week's spotlight act) tragedy.  Tune in as B.C.  counts down from worst to best the Deftones discography, including the latest release "Ohms". 

In honor of Eddie Van Halen, who passed away this week at the age of 65, I have taken the difficult task of narrowing it down to 10 favorite songs from the legendary band, listening to everything from DLR to Hagar to (YES!) Gary Cherone.  But I have narrowed it down to 10.  Remember, this is not carved in stone.  Simply my opinion.

One of the most underrated bands of the 90's, The Cranberries have released the most emotional, most disturbing, and most profound music in a short period of time.  After a few stumbles and a long hiatus in the 00s, the band was prepared to make a huge comeback.  Unfortunately, that comeback was cut short due to the tragic passing of Dolores O'Riordan.

To commemorate the release of their Box Set in October, B.C.  looks at the discography of the English roots rock band lead by Mark Knopfler.  Even though it was a SHORT library from the band (and Mark flat out refusing to re-form the band) Dire Straits has influenced many an act such as Sheryl Crow, The Wallflowers, Dave Matthews Band, and so much more.  With a Rock Hall induction in 2018, it's not a secret their music is every bit as memorable now as it was when the "Sultans of Swing" started in 1977.  Kick back, relax, and enjoy the countdown from worst to best.  

Back after a 2-week break and into "The World I Know" , I will be discussing the albums of Collective Soul.  The Atlanta, GA based rock band has been at it for almost 20 years.  Founded by the sons of a Baptist minister, Collective Soul has 10 albums, 7 #1 Mainstream Rock hits, sold 24 million albums worldwide, and even got into trouble with Billy Corgan and Metallica (Yes, I'm serious about that last one).  They continue to "Shine" this very day.  Sometime in 2021, Collective Soul will be releasing their 11th album "Vibrating" (which was supposed to be part of a double album along with 2019's "Blood".  BUT, until (or if) it gets released, I will count down from worst to best the current discography of Ed Roland and company.

Taking a 2 week break, but returning September 21st for 8 weeks of new Randumbs (with some Bonus episodes in between).  B.C.  will kick off the fall season with Collective Soul and conclude with a 2 part look at Bruce Springsteen!  See you 9/21/2020!  

In this "RandumBonus" episode, I tackle artists and bands that I used to love growing up and would defend them to people until the day I die.  However, as time passes and I myself get older, there comes a time where I just can't really listen to, defend, or even care about a new release from them anymore.  We've all had bands and artists we loved but moved on from.  I could go all day on such acts.  However, for the sake of our sanity, I've narrowed it down to 10.

One of the biggest news stories in music was something many never thought would happen.  But after 9 years, Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes have reunited and it feels so good (SORRY!).  With the recent release of the critically acclaimed 10th (IF you count their Christmas release) album "Down In The Weeds, Where the World Once Was", one must wonder where this ranks among the Eyes discography.  If you haven't heard it yet?  GET ON THAT because it's one of the best albums of the year and I'm now ranking it among their other albums.  Tune and find out where they stack up!

10 episodes later, B.C.  FINALLY tackles a different genre and presents his first rap/hip-hop episode.  A pioneer in West Coast rap and founding member of the group N.W.A., Ice Cube has had a career that lasted 30+ years.  Not just a musician, he is also an accomplished actor, fashion designer, and basketball league owner.  Tune in as we chronicle his solo career, discuss his social commentary, and his place in the rap genre in 2020.
