  • Representation (w/ Washington Senator Joe Nguyen)
National politics got ya down? Well have we got an answer for you - on this extra special episode reviewing “Representation”, we welcome Washington State Senator Joe Nguyen to the pod! First, Katie and Allison rant about annoying office politics, then discuss impeachment and how Nate Silver is suffering from late-stage pundit brain.
Then we get local as we chat with the State Senator from Washington’s 34th District, Joe Nguyen. He’s been called the AOC of Washington State and wears joggers to the office, but we get straight into substance and discuss his plans for the coming year, how to create real structural change in government through inclusion and diversity, and how a small minority of representatives can make a huge difference against the establishment.

  • Queer Fashion (w/ Ryland Quillen)
Ya wanna be on top? And bottom, because we’re verse, hunney! It’s September, which means we had to cover the world of fashion - but with a gay citrus twist. We’re joined by Ryland Quillen to review Queer Fashion and we start with a rundown of our style evolutions and reviewing our Fall Lewks. Then we play a game of “Fash or Trash” to decide which queer trends need to be sent to the fashion graveyard. We also discuss some queer icons of fashion herstory and how the industry is evolving to center more queer and marginalized people.

  • Housing (w/ Calvin Jones of Tech 4 Housing)
In this episode of non-stop deep sighs, Katie and Allison are joined by Calvin Jones of Tech 4 Housing to review the incredibly important topic of Housing. First, we discuss the most recent democratic debates and why the media is letting Joe Biden off the hook, and then rant about SNL casting VERY racist comedian Shane Gillis, who is also VERY bad at apologies.
For our review, we unpack the complex and thorny issues of housing, the work being done by advocates to humanize unhoused people, why it’s so hard to get public policy passed to create missing middle housing in Seattle and other cities nationwide (spoiler alert white privilege!!), and how big tech has been implicated in the housing crisis and how tech workers could be part of a solution.
Recently, homelessness has been weaponized as a fear tactic both locally in conservative media Sinclair stations (Seattle Is Dying) and nationally on Fox News and by Trump, so it’s more important than ever to learn about how everyone should get involved with housing advocacy and discussing housing as a human right. Shout out to the #SEATTLEPROCESS and never forget, Safe Seattle Is A Hate Group!

  • Gaming (w/ Amber Harner)
What if we told you there is a gaming community that welcomes diversity, has a strong representation of women, is generally friendly and positive, gets people out of the house and interacting face to face with fellow gamers, and helps people to be healthy?
We chat with Dance Dance Revolution champion Amber Harner to review Gaming, plus rant about freaking ourselves out with True Crime, Karamo Brown being bff with Sean Spicer on Dancing With The Stars, and Tomi Lahren’s hideous fitness line on our latest ep!

  • Millennials (w/ Tiff Ta & Dana Wait)
This week, Katie and Allison join forces with Tiff Ta and Dana Wait of the podcast Death by Millennial to review the generation of 90’s nostalgia, avocado toast, and massive collective anxiety. First, Dana discusses dating apps and some themes of bad dating profiles (random puppies! tank tops!), and Tiff rants about an unfortunate run-in with an ignorant waiter and their racist microaggressions. Who are the best and worst millennials? Will the generation that created social influencers save the world or just let it burn? Find out on this overwhelmingly boomer-free episode!

  • Twitter (w/ Cody Permenter)
#This #Podcast #Rules are we doing this right?!? This ep is chock full of hot takes as the #squad reviews the most recent 2020 Democratic Debates and the awful-yet-sort-of-fun social media platform, Twitter. Katie & Allison are joined by social media expert, writer, and Beto fan (he’s from Texas) Cody Permenter! They rant about the ridiculously centrist debate moderation, Medicare For All, which candidates did the best and worst, and which we want to get into a bed of lettuce with (you’ll just have to listen). Then they discuss what makes Twitter so malicious and if @jack will ever remove white supremacists, including their leader Donald Trump. They also chat about the history of the platform, their fave Twitter personalities, and what goes into managing a brand's account.
