From there, ANT gets into Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy run, Shaboozey’s “immigrants built this country” acceptance speech and the backlash that followed, and a Roc Nation rabbit hole centered around JAY-Z and the way powerful people suddenly seem to lose their voices when certain names enter the conversation.
The celebrity side gets no calmer. ANT reacts to Amazon’s massive investment in the Melania Trump documentary, Chingy explaining why a past controversy almost changed how he interacted with gay fans, and Cam Newton’s comments about having a “platonic friend” that immediately send the conversation somewhere it probably wasn’t supposed to go.
Then come the stories that sound made up even when they aren’t: the FBI’s long-running battle with treasure hunters over missing Civil War-era gold, another trip through the Epstein files, claims involving Bill Gates, and a man allegedly stealing a stove before setting a building on fire.
By the time ANT loses his show notes and somehow keeps the RANT moving anyway, PLAYTONIC has turned into a conversation about Black history, politics, hip-hop, selective outrage, relationships, celebrity culture, and how quickly one story can become five completely different arguments.
