Listen Later

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

We’ve got a lulu of a show for you this evening.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Lulu
December 11 marked the birth in 1904 of Marjorie Buell. So who was Marjorie Buell? Well, Marjorie Buell was the cartoonist who gave life to Little Lulu. So here in commemoration of Marjorie Buell and Little Lulu, are some little songs about…Lulu

Don’t Bring Lulu – The Little Ramblers / Billy Jones, v.

Segment 2: Marlene Dietricht
December 11 in 1939, Marlene Deitricht recorded “Falling in Love Again” on the Decca label. You probably think now that I’ve told you that, that I’m going to play that record. Nope. I’m going to play that song, but not that record. From the 1930 picture “The Blue Angel”, the international film that launched Dietrich’s career and enabled her to move to the U.S, here is Marlene Dietricht, in German, and “Falling in Love Again”.

Falling in Love Again – Marlene Dietricht

Segment 3: OK
December 13 in 1929, Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra recorded “Rockin’ Chair”. Here is that Okeh recording. Actually, it was a pretty darn good recording. It’s OK, because it was on the Okeh label.
