Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

On this evening’s show, we’ve got some songs about felines, twilight, and some railroad songs, a set of Victor records, a vocabulary lesson and we’ll look at this past week in recording history.

Segment 1: Ailurophile
The word for this week is ailurophile, which is someone who is a cat lover – as in “Some extreme ailurophiles have been known to leave large large sums of money in their wills to their cats.”

Segment 2: Railroad
October 4 in 1948, “The Railroad Hour” debuted on ABC radio. So here to commemorate “The Railroad Hour” are songs about railroads.

Segment 3: Victor Records
October 3, marked the incorporation in 1901 by Eldridge R. Johnson of the Victor Talking Machine Company. It was created out of a merger between a company which produced flat disc records and a company which manufactured machines for playing disc records. So here in commemoration is a trio of Victor records.

Segment 4: Twilight
10 PM on Friday, October 2, 1959 “The Twilight Zone” made its debut on CBS TV. So here to commemorate the show are some rapidly rotating records about twilight.
