Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – 6 January 2002

Listen Later

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

On this evening’s show, we’re going to shed some light on some subjects, celebrate the tournament of roses, and in the last segment of the show we’re just gonna go plain cuckoo.

Enjoy the show!

Here’s the complete playlist:

Segment 1: Topic
We’re going to take off in all directions in this first segment of the show, because last week, December 30 in 1942, “Mr. and Mrs. North” debuted on NBC radio. So in commemoration, we have some directional songs, and the show’s theme song.

When the Wind Blows North – Bernie Cummins Orchestra
Here are a couple more directional songs.
West End Romp – New Orleans Owls

Segment 2: Lights
On the last day of 1879, Thomas Edison gave his first public demonstration of incandescent lighting to an audience in Menlo Park, New Jersey. So here to commemorate Mr. Edison’s invention, are some songs about all kinds of lights, including the kind used before incandescent.
