Segment 1: Lionel Hampton
We’re going to start the show with a tribute to Lionel Hampton, who passed away last Saturday, August 31 at the age of 94. Lionel Hampton was one of, if not the, last surviving musicians to have recorded during the acoustic era, before microphones and electrical amplification.

Segment 2: Railroad
September 1 in 1859, the first Pullman sleeping car was placed into service. Upper and lower folding berths led to large and elaborate sleeping car named“Pioneer”, which was embraced by the railroad companies. So here, in commemoration of the Pullman car, are some railroad songs.

Segment 3: Bing Crosby

Segment 4: Tomorrow
September 3, in 1951, what was to become the longest-running TV soap opera was seen for the first time as “Search for Tomorrow” debuted on CBS-TV, which is the reason you’re about to hear some songs about “tomorrow.

Segment 5: Beautiful
September 7 in 1921 the first Miss America Pageant was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as a promotion to keep tourists in the resort town after the Labor Day holiday. So we’re going to play some beautiful songs to commemorate the beautiful ladies of the Miss America Pageant.
