Rapidly Rotating Records 78 RPM Show – May 2, 2021

Listen Later

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is?  He’s 1920s bandleader Earl Gresh. But this photograph was taken in 1929, after Earl’s music career came to an abrupt halt. In the first segment of this week’s show, you’ll hear three great records by Earl and His Gangplank Orchestra, find out why he left music and why he’s is a boat.  We’ll also celebrate the birthdays of Bill Smith and Fiddlin’ Doc Roberts. If you like the “One Thing In Common” and “For No Particular Reason” segments, you’ll love this week’s “To Whom Do These Records Refer” segment.  And in the final segment of the show we’ll weather some storms.   There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and get magically transported back to an earlier musical era. But most of all…

ENJOY THE SHOW!

I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing as well as you can be given the current world situation and stay-at-home orders and that this hour of music gives you a bit of diversion and entertainment. Thanks for listening and best wishes!
