Segment 1: Tubicinate
My good friend, expert & well prepared outdoorsman Bill Mendoza, died recently due to freak weather while kayaking on Mono Lake. As another friend said the other day, it’s just not fair. Even so, when this show’s over, if you’re not familiar with Mono Lake, I know Bill would join me in hoping you’ll point your browser to www.monolake.org to find out about this unique and amazing place along the eastern Sierra Nevada in California. Bill was a kind, gentle and selfless human being as evidenced by his more than 30 years as an extremely dedicated junior high school special education teacher, and his financial and lifestyle support of numerous humanitarian and conservation causes. But, in addition to his passion for his family and friends, for Mono Lake, and for education, Bill Mendoza also tubicinated.
Tubicinate is a verb meaning to blow a trumpet. Bill Mendoza tubicinated in the local community’s Ontario Chaffey Show Band just about every Monday evening for nearly a quarter century. So here for my friend Bill Mendoza, are some rapidly rotating records about trumpets.

This request comes from musician and RRR listener Hannu in Finland, who is recovering from some surgery on his Achille’s tendon. So, with best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery, we’re going to have a couple of segments with Hannu’s requests.

Segment 4: Febrific
The next word in this evening’s vocabulary lesson is febrific. It comes from the latin febris for fever and means producing fever, feverish or having a fever.

Segment 5: Lachrymiform
The last word in our vocabulary lesson this evening is lachrymiform, an adjective meaning tear-shaped, or having the form of a tear. Yes – it’s a segment with tears.
