    :17 - We’re a week away from Thanksgiving, if you can believe that. Some families deep-fry their turkeys, others cook theirs the tradition way. Tony’s family, however, has picked up a turkey from…..Popeyes Chicken.
    10:05 - Who will coach the Cleveland Browns next season? Bruce Arians? Lincoln Riley? Gregg Williams? John Dorsey spoke to the media about the coaching search, and Ray and Tony broke down the Browns at the bye week.
    19:05 - Gordon King owns and operates A1 Baseball Glove Repair in Parma, and he has helped refurbish and restring countless old baseball gloves. Gordon also dedicates his time to fixing these gloves for veterans and those in active military duty so they have something to occupy themselves with overseas.
    36:28 - The Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates completed a five-player trade on Wednesday, which sent utility player Erik Gonzalez to the Steel City. So how will the Tribe look next year with Gonzalez, Michael Brantley, and possible others playing elsewhere?
    45:03 - The Mogadore Wildcats are no strangers to the playoffs, and especially playing a team like Kirkland. Head coach Matt Adorni previewed his matchup against the Hornets.

    :17 - Before prom, a number of students in Wisconsin took a photo where it looked like they gave the camera a Nazi salute. Ray, Jeanne, Steffany, and Tony shared their thoughts on this matter and how parents should approach a situation if one were to come in contact with an individual with radical beliefs.
    15:30 - Moving onto some high school football here. Justin Todd is the head football coach at Wadsworth, and his undefeated Grizzlies are set to take on Massillon.
    21:47 - Another terrific football program is at Archbishop Hoban. Tim Tyrrell’s Knights keep moving right along, and they will play Shaq Washington's Maple Heights Mustangs this Friday.
    26:05 - Long-time coach Jim France from Manchester has his Panthers on a roll, and he previewed his upcoming matchup against Orville.
    30:52 - The fires in California rage on, and the devastation is leaving countless people without homes or even towns. Jim McIntyre from the American Red Cross discussed what they are doing and how folks in Northeast Ohio can be of assistance.
    38:08 - Russ Brode is a lieutenant in the Akron Fire Department, and he talked to Ray and the listeners about the differences between putting out wildfires and regular house and office fires.
    45:23 - Finally, Dan Horrigan, the mayor of Akron, called into discuss the continued development in downtown, as well as the uprising of the area’s booming neighborhoods and what will go into the old Rolling Acres land.

    :17 - A name that is no stranger to Ohio, as well as 1590 WAKR, is Senator Sherrod Brown. Could he be the next presidential candidate for the Democrats? Dr. David Cohen from the University of Akron’s Bliss Institute shared his thoughts on the long-time senator.
    8:08 - Another person who isn’t a stranger to these parts is Jim Trout from Acme Fresh Markets. In addition to his duties at Acme, Trout is the honorary chairman of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign, and he stopped by the studio to talk about it.
    15:12 - Dr. Tim Brown normally joins us once a month on Mondays (he’ll be on next Monday the 19th), but he called in to talk about a heart medication recall.
    21:16 - Open enrollment for the 2019 marketplace has begun, and will continue through December 15th. Anne Armao from Summa Health joined us for some more information.
    29:18 - The Browns took care of the Falcons on Sunday, 28-16. Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report recapped the contest and looks ahead as the Browns cruise into the bye week.

    :17 - For years, Captain Ernie Stadveg flew over the skies of Akron with his traffic and weather reports, and even had his own fan club, Captain Ernie’s Flying Club. What people may not know is he was an 18-year veteran, serving in both World War II and Korea. Tony Mazur, who’s filling in for Ray, had the pleasure of interviewing him.
    22:22 - Colonel Lionel is with Akron Public Schools and helps students get some real-world military experience and education before graduation.
    30:06 - Each Monday morning, our veterinarian Dr. Gary Riggs joins us to take your questions. Since the Browns beat the Falcons on Sunday, Tony asked Dr. Riggs about falcons and how they’re a success story in returning to their habitats. They also discussed seizures that can occur in pets and what to do.
    40:00 - Also on Mondays, we present our Business of the Week! Today we put a spotlight on OGS Industries in Akron, and VP Tom Bader discussed the history of the company that his father started in 1959, and all that’s under the umbrella of OGS.

    :17 - It’s been almost thirty years since Amy Mihaljevic went missing and was later found dead in Ashland County, and the murderer has yet to be found. However, due to some breakthroughs in DNA testing, the killer could be traded, and according to James Renner, we may have an answer within the next year. He joined fill-in host Tony Mazur to discuss it.
    16:00 - On November 10th, 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was traveling on Lake Superior “fully loaded for Cleveland.” However, gale force winds in the blustery November night caused the ship to lose radio contact, and “The Fitz” sunk before Whitefish Bay, losing all 29 crew members. We’ve all heard the Gordon Lightfoot song, so Tony shared some facts on the most infamous shipwreck in the history of the Great Lakes.
    27:40 - November is the month where we become more aware of all types of diabetes. Dr. Desmond Bell, president of the Save a Leg, Save a Life foundation, joined the show to talk about prevention and treatment with diabetes.
    36:29 - The climate may be weeks behind, but it’s time for the ol’ fall cleanup. Our master gardener Jeanne Poremski took questions on proper grass maintenance, cutting peonies, and how to treat blooming hibiscus plants.
    51:06 - And finally, we wrap up the week with our movie guy and WQMX morning man Scott Wynn. Opening this weekend is yet another Grinch movie, and he urges Tony to go see Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born.

    :17 - It’s the morning after election day, and Ray Horner and 1590 WAKR have you covered! Before we went state and nationwide, Ray caught up with Akron mayor Dan Horrigan about moving the primary to May, which ended up passing.
    5:38 - Dr. David Beer is a political scientist at Malone University, and he shared his views on the senate and house races, as well as the gubernatorial election in Ohio. Specifically, Dr. Beer points to just how red Republican Ohio is getting.
    12:19 - After a few tries, a school levy has passed in Norton. Superintendent of Norton schools, Dana Addis, discussed the victory.

    20:54 - With another look at the Ohio senate and gubernatorial races, Dr. David Cohen, professor of political science at the Bliss Institute, broke down what occurred.

    :17 - It’s election day! We covered the most crucial and series topic of our time: is a hot dog a sandwich?
    3:46 - We had the Browns covered for you, as well. Our Browns guy, Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report, talked about Gregg Williams’s first game as interim head coach, and how the team looks as they take on the Atlanta Falcons before the bye week.
    12:42 - In this sports-heavy show, Ray talked Tribe with broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus. The GM meetings are going on in Major League Baseball, and Rosey discussed the state of the Indians, including the reports of possible trades of core players.
    31:52 - The East Dragons are 9-2 on the season, and they’re set to take on Canfield this week. Head coach Marques Hayes talked about his strong football team.
    35:14 - We head to Mogodore to talk to head coach Matt Adorni. The Wildcats are 10-1 on the season and they are set to take on McDonald.
    39:15 - Speaking of “futbol,” Ray heads north to Richfield as he chats with boys soccer coach Nick DePompei and his Minutemen.

    :17 - After a whirlwind week, the Cleveland Browns were back on the field and surprised no one with a 37-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Ray and Tony broke down how they viewed the contest, which had a slightly better offensive scheme.
    7:07 - Our veterinarian Dr. Gary Riggs stopped by, as he typically does on Mondays, to answer questions on your pets. Some of those questions revolved around flea medication, annual shots, and what happens if and when your pet gets into some candy.
    20:27 - During our Question of the Day segment, the topic of what are the busiest airports during the holiday season was broached. The panel discussed some of their favorite airports to fly into, and some of the places to avoid if possible.
    32:05 - Time now for our Business of the Week! Scheeser Buckley & Mayfield in Green is an engineering firm, and Jim Eckman, the president, talked about the company.
    41:54 - Coming up on November 12th at the Funny Stop Comedy Club is the 7th annual Suicide Prevention Benefit. Shawn Boyd started this event back in 2011 following the suicide of a friend, and he’s been raising money and awareness ever since. Shawn is performing that night, as well as our own Tony Mazur.

    :17 - Remember, if you aren’t fully digital at home, this is the weekend we “fall back” with the time change. The panel opened Friday’s show talking about sleep, or lack thereof, and how they’re able to cope with their schedules.
    10:52 - Akron Children’s Hospital has had Bill Considine in charge for 40 years, but that all changed this week. Grace Wakulchik is the new president and CEO at the hospital, and she talked to Ray about being prepared for the transition.
    15:25 - Tammy Pescatelli got her start in standup at Hilarities Comedy Club in Cuyahoga Falls. Well, Hilarities has now become the Funny Stop, but she hasn’t forgotten her roots. She’s performing there this weekend, and being a Northeast Ohioan, she shared her thoughts on the Cleveland Browns.
    22:20 - The world of comic books makes its way to Goodyear Hall this weekend. Michael Savene from the Akron Comicon joined Ray to give comic book enthusiasts some great access to the creators and exhibits.
    25:50 - With Christmas around the corner and folks going shopping soon, our golf pro Dan Dauk talked about new clubs and equipment, especially for seniors hitting the links.
    32:35 - Time to head to the front row with WQMX’s Scott Wynn. The big movie released this weekend is Bohemian Rhapsody, the new biopic on Freddie Mercury and Queen.

    :17 - Bill Considine has been the head of Akron Children’s Hospital for 40 years, and though he’ll keep an emeritus title, he is stepping down. He talked to Ray about his time as CEO and the legacy he’ll leave behind, keeping it in good hands for Grace Wakulchik (who’ll join us tomorrow).
    12:02 - A week before the election, the topic of birthright citizenship has been a divisive one, especially with the caravan headed towards the US border. Immigration attorney Farhad Sethna calls in to talk about the executive branch’s role here and how the laws could or could not be changed.
    23:07 - Remember to “fall back” this weekend, as we turn our clocks back and get an extra hour of sleep. For many, the time change doesn’t affect us, but others have a real problem adjusting. Dr. Rajesh Tampi from Akron General talks about seasonal depression and how to properly cope.
    30:31 - This podcast was recorded on November 1st. If you live in Akron, there are not only still leaves on the trees, but many are still green! Our master gardener Jeanne Poremski gave us a little insight and even took some phone questions.
