    :16 - We’re just a few weeks away from the gubernatorial election in Ohio. Joining us this morning is Betty Sutton, who is on the ticket with Richard Cordray for governor.
    8:03 - Stemming from a conversation about Italy, Ray and Tony talked about fun honeymoon for young married couples. As mentioned earlier this week, Tony got engaged over the weekend, and he and his fiancee Leah are open to possible honeymoon ideas.
    15:22 - The Cleveland Indians have been eliminated from the playoffs for over a week and a half, but they still have some holes to be filled and questions to be answered. Do the Indians need to sell off a starting pitcher or two for a power bat, and if so, could Corey Kluber be a name?
    30:09 - Our master gardener, Jeanne Poremski, joined us on the phone to get us ready before the first frost.
    39:02 - Nick Bosa had surgery several weeks back, and rather than rehab his groin and get on the field for the Michigan game and beyond, he’s choosing to forego and enter the NFL Draft. Is this a good decision, and how is Buckeye Nation treating this?

    :17 - One of the big talking points in Akron these last few weeks has been a proposed ordinance to fine and even jail residents who have incessant barking dogs. Well, city council shot down Russ Neal’s proposal, and he joined Ray to discuss what’s next.
    10:17 - Time now for our Academic Exam, sponsored by the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Matt and Katelyn from East Community Learning Center squared off a day earlier than normal, as we’re live at Goodyear Hall tomorrow.
    23:00 - The devastation continues in the gulf of Florida, as the panhandle looks to rebuild what was torn up from Michael. The tornado-like winds damaged the power structure and grids need to be rebuilt. Mark Durbin from FirstEnergy gave us some education on what needs to be done.
    30:52 - The Browns came out flat in Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. What needs to be done to rectify both sides of the ball to get back to .500? Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report gave his thoughts on the game and looked ahead to Sunday in Tampa.

    :17 - Ray and the morning gang kicked off Monday’s show with some pleasant news. Tony Mazur, the show’s producer, got engaged over the weekend!
    10:00 - Green mayor Gerard Neugebauer stopped by the studio to provide an update on the Nexus pipeline. As of late last week, gas is now flowing through the pipe.
    16:58 - We are now less than a month away before the midterms. Will the Republican Party maintain the governorship in Ohio with Mike DeWine, or will Richard Cordray swing the pendulum back to the Democrats? And how about the sizable lead Sherrod Brown has in the senate over Jim Renacci? Dr. David Beer from Malone University previews what may occur leading up to the election.
    26:05 - It’s been a few days and the storm has settled a bit, but Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael has devastated parts of the Florida Panhandle. Jim McIntyre from the American Red Cross provided an update.
    33:05 - Time now for our Business of the Week! This week, we head over to Fairlawn and visit with Wells Trecaso Financial Group. Doug Wells and Ralph Trecaso talked about their business, which has been around since the early 1990s.
    42:48 - The Cavs open their season on Wednesday, and the voice of the team, John Michael, previewed what to expect. Michael believes players like Jordan Clarkson and Rodney Hood will have significant expanded roles now that LeBron took his talents to Los Angeles.

    :17 - Ray was off today, so producer Tony Mazur filled in the hosting shoes. Comedian Jim Florentine is at the Funny Stop Comedy Club this weekend. Being a sports and music fan, he called into the show to talk about the state of the NFL today (including the 2-2-1 Browns) and the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
    10:38 - Tony chats about famous serial killers, mainly because he thinks of odd things when he’s on very little sleep.
    19:39 - It all started in 1996, a small Halloween festival in the backyard of Claude DeBord. It has since expanded every year from his yard to Hardesty Park, and now it’s grown to Derby Downs. DeBord went over the history of his festival and what to expect on October 13th from noon-9 PM.
    25:16 - It’ll be chilly this weekend, so why not cozy up in a movie theater seat? WQMX morning man Scott Wynn talks about what’s in theaters this weekend, including A Star is Born and Venom.

    We were pleased to have Scarlett Lewis join us in studio. Tragically, her son, Jesse, was murdered the morning of December 12th, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. She told her story on the air with Ray, and will do so at Glover CLC tonight.
    Each Thursday morning, we are joined by our master gardener, Jeanne Poremski, to answer your questions and get your lawn and garden in shape before the cold hits.
    Also on Thursdays, Georjette Thomas from Pay It Forward For Pets stops by to get some pets adopted. Today we have Grady available!

    :29 - Ray’s first podcast began with a light conversation about reality TV shows, with Survivor entering its 37th season. Ray, Tony, Jeanne, and Steffany all talked about which reality shows they could and could not be a part of.

    21:10 - Tim Tyrrell’s Hoban Knights football team is 5-0 and among the best in the state. Coach Tyrrell talked about his big matchup vs. Benedictine.
    26:02 - Ray began his conversation with Senator Sherrod Brown on the Indians propelling towards next week’s playoffs, as well as his meeting with the United Mine Workers of America.
    31:20 - Madhu Sharma is the acting executive director at the International Institute of Akron, and she joined Ray in studio to talk about their move to Summa St. Thomas in North Hill.

    :28 - Nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were released on Tuesday, and naturally, there will always be a debate on who’ll go in, who gets snubbed, and the criteria and qualifications overall. Ray, Jeanne, and Tony chatted about the list of candidates, as well as those who are on the outside looking in.
    9:23 - Hurricane Michael, as of this post, has been upgraded to a Category 4 and is set to blast the Florida Panhandle as early as this afternoon. As is the case with hurricanes and tropical storms, the American Red Cross is there to help, as Jim McIntyre stated with Ray.
    16:03 - Continuing the coverage from Florida is WFLA’s John Conrad, who came on to set the scene. Also joining us is Ed Esposito, former news director at WAKR.
    25:50 - Time now for the Academic Exam, sponsored by the Akron-Summit County Public Library. This week, we have Parker and Mason, two brothers from Green High School competing.
    36:40 - Patrick Bravo is the president of the school board in Akron, and he joined Ray to talk about the foundation’s continued support of LeBron James’s I Promise school and what to do with the older school facilities.

    :28 - Stick a fork in the 2018 Cleveland Indians. From questionable coaching decisions to lackluster pitching to very little offense, Ray and Tony dug into the Tribe’s loss to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.
    13:25 - Mayor Dan Horrigan dropped by the studio to touch on a slew of topics ranging from the sewer project, the early primary voting, and the future of the Rolling Acres Mall site.
    33:25 - For many years, Joe Hlas was Ray’s bowling correspondent on the morning show. Today, he talked about another type of game. Specifically, a game show. Joe and the Hlas family from Norton appeared on Family Feud back in April, and their showing will be televised next week.
    41:28 - Back to the Tribe, Bob DiBiasio from the team joined the show for some Indians post mortem.
    48:30 - Perhaps the Indians had to die for the Browns to be resurrected? Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report came on the show to recap the Browns’ 12-9 victory over the Ravens, improving their record to 2-2-1.

    :27 - Ray begins Monday’s show about the struggling Indians, who dropped the first two games of the ALDS to the Houston Astros. Do they still have a shot? Is their window closing?
    11:11 - Dr. Gary Riggs, our morning show veterinarian, stopped by, as he does each Monday around 7:30. They talk about allergies with pets, if dogs get sunburn, and dispelling the rumor about dogs being colorblind. Dr. Riggs has offices in Norton and Barberton.
    23:20 - The Rialto Theatre has been rejuvenated, and the rest of Kenmore is going through the same process. The Rialto is the 1590 WAKR Business of the Week!
    35:11 - The 1974 Cleveland Indians only won 77 games. So why is there a book out about them? Because if it weren’t for 1974, Jacobs/Progressive Field isn’t built. No Belle or Lofton or Baerga or Thome or Sizemore or Sabathia or Lindor or Kluber or three Ramirez players (Manny, Alex, Jose) don’t happen. Jim Clark has a book out about that season, from Ten Cent Beer Night to possibly moving the team to New Orleans or Seattle.
