In this episode of Bourbon With Friends. The guys sit down with Barry Brinegar, Vice President and Co-Founder of RD1 Spirits. Barry has been active in the local business community for the last 30+ years. His career started in healthcare - first as a field medic in the 1st Marine Division, then as an RN - before evolving into medical and pharmaceutical device sales, and eventually digital marketing.
RD1 Spirits was laid over 150 years ago by William Tarr, one of the bourbon giants of the Bluegrass. William TARR Bourbon stands on the shoulders of his rich legacy. RD1's mission is to act with Tarr's single-minded determination, guided by our genuine passion for the spirits we create.
William Tarr exuded confidence the way a lamp gives off light. He sold watermelons from a horse-drawn cart as a kid. Before leaving high school, he had the vision to turn the family farming operation into a sustainable ecosystem.
Touted in his prime as “Moneyman of the Bluegrass,” Tarr rose to fabled railroad-man and bourbon paramour, acquiring the Ashland Distillery — Lexington’s first federally registered distillery (RD1) — and taking it to bold new heights.
