CW: this episode contains discussions of postnatal depression, suicide, and drug use.
In this episode, I am joined by mum-of-2 Kiera Hopkins.
Kiera always dreamed of being a mum. After meeting her soulmate at 16, she always knew the goal was to settle down and have a family of her own.
Then, her first baby came along when she was 24 - and things were amazing. Motherhood was everything Kiera expected. That was, until she fell pregnant with her second child, and things started to feel off.
All the good feelings Kiera had with her first baby were nowhere to be seen.
It wasn't until her husband sat her down, nearly a year later, that Kiera realised just how bad things had become.
In this episode, we cover:
- postnatal depression
- what it feels like when you've got the 'biter'
- when your child is diagnosed with ADHD, what next?
- finding identity after all of it
This one is a little heavy, but oh, so important.
Listen with care, but do listen.
You can follow Kiera's Instagram here.
And, if you're struggling remember there's always help.
In Australia, immediate support for postnatal depression is available through PANDA (1300 726 306), Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636), and Lifeline (13 11 14). Use them - you deserve to feel happy.
All my love. x
