  • Re-tired Ep. 042: Elections & Our Podcast

Tina and Sue have a frank discussion about the elections and how, or if, they want to talk about them. Re-tired is not a political podcast per se, however, there is too much that must be said.

  • Re-tired Ep. 041: Halloween

For Tina and Sue, Halloween brings back memories of childhood and of raising their own daughters. Vampires, robots, Harry Potter, Thriller, and chicken eggs, oh my! The tale of Stingy Jack explains Jack o'lanterns, but not the energy that kids bring to school on Halloween. Stay safe and have fun this Halloween!

  • Re-tired Ep. 038: Evacusomnia

Tina invented a new word to describe some of what she is experiencing -- evacusomnia, the feeling of being on the edge of desperation from the continued threat of wildfire evacuation and the prolonged suffering of insomnia. The Line Fire continues to burn and nearby evacuation orders have Tina ready to go. Even through sleep deprivation & allergies, Tina is finding reserves to stay calm and not let it break her.

  • Re-tired Ep. 037: Wildfire Evacuation

Tina talks about what it it was like to have to evacuate from the Line Wildfire, and living under continued evacuation warning. The Line Fire in Southern California has burned over 40,000 acres and caused damage to health, property, and everyday life. The damage was intentionally set by an arson.

  • Re-tired Ep. 036: No More Schoolbells

Tina and Sue got a text from friends and colleagues, Sharon and Jennifer, who were enjoying a coffee on the first day of school as newly minted Re-tirees. So, of course, they wanted to hear their first impressions of Re-tirement. Sharon has signed on to many activities while resisting the urge to adopt ALL the dogs needing rescue. For Jennifer, Re-tiring has been soulfully bittersweet. Feelings of loss turn into a more meaningful connection with people.

  • Re-tired Ep. 035: Author Nikki Shannon Smith, Pulled Away by Writing

Author, teacher, and friend Nikki Shannon Smith shares how she was pulled away from teaching by realizing her dream in writing.  The spark that led her to be an award-winning author of more than 20 children’s and y/a reader books was when she saw the example of other women who made “changes to their lives that allowed them to be themselves, pursue their dreams, and seek their truth.”  Yes, Nikki understands what it is to Re-tire!

  • Re-tired Ep. 032: Regret, Part 2

Tina and Sue continue their conversation about regret. They get a little metaphysical by asking if we can ever really know if a decision to do something important, such as having a child, was the right choice? Can we know if we don't take an action, is that the best choice? Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Can you change long-held personal beliefs? Oh my!

About Re-tired: New Tread

From the publisher's feed

"Re-tired" is the podcast where your hosts, Sue & Tina talk about what life is like when we put on new tread for new adventures. We'll explore what it means to re-tire. Like any good road trip, we'll have great company and a load of fun. "Re-tired" will host meaningful conversations with feminists about shifts in life. That could mean discussions about new job or careers, new identities, new starts, and more. In sharing, our hope, our drive, is to not only listen and hear, but to understand and empower ourselves and each other.
