We tip off the season with our annual "Horizon League State of the Union Address" with the commissioner of the Horizon League Julie Roe Lach - Justin Kinner and Julie dive into the conferences Brand Recharge + they discuss the impact of the transfer portal NIL on mid major conferences (Good and bad). Julie Roe Lach also closes out the episode with her thoughts on the NIT changes and how that impacts the Horizon League.

The Cleveland State Vikings knocked off the Green Bay Phoenix this past Tuesday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum to clinch their first Horizon League title since 2010. Justin Kinner caught up with Vikings head coach Chris Kielsmeier to reflect on their title win on Tuesday plus coach weighs in on what his message was for his players and staff heading into Selection Sunday.

The Northern Kentucky Norse knocked off Cleveland State in Tuesday night's Horizon League Championship game 63-61. It was the fourth conference title in the last seven years and the second title under the reign of head coach Darrin Horn. Coach Horn joined us on this week podcast to reflect on the huge Championship win and weighed in on what made this season and this roster so special.

The regular season is wrapping up this weekend and the regular season title is still unclaimed. Youngstown State is sitting at the top with the Cleveland State Vikings right behind them. Cleveland State is coming off of a huge weekend taking care of business vs Wright State and Northern Kentucky. The Vikings are easily the hottest team heading into the Tournament and that is why we had to get the voice of the CSU men's program Al Pawlowski on the pod this week.

Four teams are tied at the top of the conference with a 9-3 record and the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are just behind them sitting at 7-5. The Horizon League is as deep and competitive as it has been in a long time and that is what makes each weeks quantity of games all quality match-ups. ESPN's Jordan Bernfield has been calling the Horizon League games on ESPN for quite a few years now and he knows better than anybody just how exciting these games can be. Jordan is our guest on this weeks edition of Reach The Horizon as he gets us set for tonight's ESPN2 showdown between the Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the Youngstown State Penguins. Justin Kinner and Jordan also talk about the league standings at the half way point of conference play + Jordan gets put on the spot when he's asked which team outside of the top 4 in the standings has the best shot to win it all in Indianapolis come March.

The Wright State Raiders are coming off of an impressive 2-0 road sweep over Green Bay Milwaukee to even their conference record to 4-4. It has been an up and down season for Wright State who continues to fight to find their way in a very deep Horizon League. The Raiders have their hands full this weekend as they have Purdue Fort Wayne coming to the Nutter Center tonight and then they we'll welcome the Cleveland State Vikings on Sunday. Chris Collins joined Justin Kinner on this weeks show to talk about the Raiders season thus far and what to expect as we enter the back-half of HL play starting next week.
