Reach The Horizon

The Youngstown State Penguins are 1-1 in Horizon League play after they split their opening conference road trip at Northern Kentucky and Wright State. The Penguins were led by Dwayne Cohill who dropped a career highh 43 points on Wright State this past weekend. His 32 points per game last week made him the obvious choice for the Horizon League Player of the Week award. This weeks guest on Reach The Horizon is the longtime voice of the Penguins Mr. Robb Schmidt. Justin Kinner and Robb Schmidt break down the huge performance by Dwayne Cohill and what we can expect from the star Penguins guard moving forward. The guys also discussed just how good this team can be in what is an already stacked Horizon League.

As the college hoops season advances so will Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis on college basketball's All-Time leading scorers list. In fact as of the recording date of this podcast, Davis is 18 points away from becoming the Horizon League's All-Time leading scorer. Pretty exciting. Jeremy Otto has had the pleasure of being the voice of the Mercy through out Davis's career. Otto joins Justin Kinner on this weeks edition of Reach The Horizon to break down the historic career of Antione Davis as well as discuss what the ceiling is for Detroit this season.

Northern Kentucky made headlines last week for their huge home win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at BB&T Arena. It's rare for Horizon League programs to knock off high major programs but what's even more rare is when Horizon League programs get these high major's on their home floor. The voice of the Norse Jim Kelch joined Justin Kinner on this weeks show to discuss how the Norse got the Bearcats to come to BB&T and took us back to the moment the clock hit 0. The college basketball season is officially here and that is why we had a familiar voice of Horizon League men's basketball Jordan Bernfield (ESPN) on the show.
