Marissa Meyer's Cinder is near and dear to our hearts because it is one of the first books we bonded over as we talked about it coming to life on a big screen. This sci fi fairy tale features a cyborg who is being wooed by a swoon inducing prince all while a mysterious virus is killing people AND a race of people from the moon with mind control powers is trying to take over Earth. It sounds crazy and cheesy, but it’s so addicting and totally screen-worthy.
If you think Cinder sounds great, you'll want to check out the rest of the titles in Marissa Meyer's The Lunar Chronicles series. To learn more about the series as well as the rest of her work, check out her website: https://www.marissameyer.com/

We LOVE so many things time travel related--Doctor Who, Legends of Tomorrow, Loki, the list goes on and on. Because of this, it wasn't hard to imagine seeing Ryan Graudin's Invictus on the big screen. Farway and his crew travel throughout time stealing valuables from the past for their shady boss to sell on the black market. When one of their heists goes sideways, they set out on a new mission to save the universe.
In this month's episode we delve into the casting Farway and the rest of the Invictus's unique crew. We'll also delve into some of the book's many thrilling scenes including a chase onboard a sinking Titanic and a gladiator battle in the Colosseum.
If you love the crazy mixed up science that is time travel or are just in the mood for an adventure that has excellent comedic elements and just the right amount of a love story, we super recommend Invictus by Ryan Graudin. Are you a fan of true crime and/or stories about serial killers? Is your podcast playlist filled with shows like Serial and My Favorite Murder, and is your bookshelf filled with mystery novels? We're delving into the genre with 2012's YA novel, I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga.
Jasper Dent was raised to be a murderer by his serial killer father, but will he use his wealth of knowledge for good or evil? Jasper wants desperately to put his dark knowledge to use for good, and when a serial killer strikes his small town in ways that are eerily reminiscent of Jasper's own father, Jasper is determined to catch the guy before he strikes again.
This book was almost brought to TV when it came out, and we think it would make a great miniseries! Check out our picks for all the main characters and which actors we think would play great serial killers in this month's episode, but before you do, make sure you pick up a copy of the book... and maybe don't talk to strangers for a while after you read it.
For more information on Barry Lyga, check out his website, https://barrylyga.com/ . He's been writing a lot of superhero novels in recent years, but good news! I Hunt Killers is a trilogy with a few added novellas, and we highly recommend you read all of them to the final bloody conclusion.

Were you one of the someones who loved a boy band? We’re not just talking about getting-super-excited-when-their songs-come-on kind of love, we’re talking full on, obsessed when-their-songs-come-on-you-are-transported-to-a-higher-plane kind of love. If you said yes to the latter, you will know exactly how the girls in Goldy Moldavsky’s Kill the Boy Band feel. In this New York Times bestseller, four friends are on a mission to meet THEIR dream boy band, The Ruperts. They have a plan, a plan that seems to be going great until it all starts going terribly wrong.
In this month’s podcast we debate who would make the best Erin, Isabel, Apple, and of course Rupert P. and hash out our favorite scenes (dramatic reading of why Rupert P. included), all while channeling our former boy band loving selves. This book is overflowing with great moments and if it’s brought to life with the right cast, it could be a huge hit!
If you like dark comedy, are a fan of Heathers, have ever loved a boy band so much you’d wear diapers while camping out for tickets, and can look back at all of it and laugh hysterically, this month’s episode is definitely for you. Before you tune in, we highly recommend you pick up a copy of Kill the Boy Band--you won’t regret it, we swear!
For more information on Goldy Moldavsky (the author of this month’s book), check out her website: https://goldymoldavsky.com/. She just came out with a new book and we can’t wait to read it!

Take one detective whose deductions factor in otherworldly beings, add one plucky heroine whose talent for noticing the mundane make her the perfect would be assistant, sprinkle in a duck, a ghost, and a sinister killer and you have the perfect recipe for a supernatural mystery. We've always thought that William Ritter's Jackaby is totally screenworthy and, after listening to this month's episode, we hope that you will too.

Who doesn't love a great underdog story? Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson is definitely one of our faves. In this episode we discuss, among other things, which actor makes a better evil Superman as well as the scenes we would definitely want to see come to life on the big screen. An intro to who we are and what this show is all about. We're two librarians in Texas who have a few opinions on the books we think deserve to make it to the big (or small) screen.
