Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 10: The Adventure with Midge the Miller's Son | Robin matches wits with a passerby, and I sing...Ha! Just kidding, I only read the songs!
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 9: Robin Hood and Will Scarlet | Robin finds an old friend, and I completely whiff a Game of Thrones reference (Samwell Tarly). Gonna have to rectify that one someday...
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 8: Little John and the Tanner of Blyth | Little John finds a new friend, and I wonder about the Merry Treasury.
As luck would have it, October 31st lands on the same day of the week as July 4th...so you get another holiday special! Maybe I'll make this a thing, even if the holiday doesn't land on a Saturday...maybe I'll even break into "lesser-known" holidays or something. Anyway, this week it's Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven"...and of course my rambling. Don't forget to go back and listen to Part 1 of the Halloween special, which I decided to make rather last-minute.
Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven | Some dude is stalked by a bird, and I get super nerdy about poetry.
There was already a Halloween special in the pipeline for next week, but I felt the urge to do another just for fun. Will I take a break from whatever I'm doing to do a whole month of horrors next year? Stay tuned in October 2021...
Edgar Allen Poe's The Masque of the Red Death | Think of this like Passengers meets Nightmare on Elm Street. I mean not really, but kind of. It's a bit graphic, so listener discretion is advised.
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 7: How Little John Lived at the Sheriff's | Little John gets a little too used to his new job, and I recite songs. No singing for you.
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 6: Little John Goes to Nottingham Fair | Little John draws some attention, and I wonder about my next season while musing about writing style. | Note: this chapter includes an insult that to the modern American ear is far less socially acceptable than when pen took to paper...if you’re sensitive to such things, be aware!
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 5: Robin Hood Turns Butcher | Robin adopts a disguise to infiltrate Nottingham, and I quote a baby.
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 4: Will Stutely Rescued by His Companions | One of the Merry Men becomes less merry, and Robin and the rest set out to rescue him. I recall a cinematic masterpiece...or something.
Howard Pyle's The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - Chapter 3: The Shooting Match at Nottingham Town | Here is the great shooting tournament, which appears in many an adaptation! It should surprise no one that I go off on grammar again.
