Episode #4
In this episode, we interview Leah Royster, who is a Sober Bartender! We discuss the empowerment of being around alcohol, how it is a job and how she has support from even her owners that she is sober.
Leah continues to bartend while she finishes school in the mortuary program at Wayne State University. "I really feel recovery is a choice that must be made sometimes every second but no matter it is a choice we make. I have struggled with addiction my whole adult life. I started using hard drugs at a young age out of boredom and curiosity, the pain that I caused myself and others by using is what lead me to drink for the greater part of my twenties. May 7th 2017, after coming out of a black out I saw even through the haze of my immense hangover I could no longer do this to my body and mind, I made the choice that day and I have never looked back."
Leah is a lover of the outdoors, hiking and kayaking. She is also a huge book nerd and amateur tarot card reader. Leah is a cat mom of two and always states these two have "not once judged me on my life journey."
