Real Church

John 1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....

Wow.

It goes on to say that he is not only the Word, but the Life, and the Light!

Did you know the entire world, all of creation, exists because of the spoken word of God?

You were created in the image of God and have his creative abilities inside of you. You literally have the power of life and death in your spoken words!

Your words have the power to create. They also have the power to destroy.

Let this first week of our message series, The Word, challenge you as you begin this new year!

Can you believe in a baby?

Mark 9:23 tells us that "all things are possible to him that believes."

Before we reach the birth of Christ in the Bible we read of prophecies that foretold of the birth of our Savior, and the fulfillment of those written words is very real!

Jesus was born. He lived. He was crucified. And he did it all so that we could be saved from the law of sin and death and that we could have everlasting life!

Do you have a nickname? A "pet" name? A name only friends call you?

Well, so does Jesus. Throughout scripture we find the names of Jesus mentioned.

Names like Savior, Redeemer, Friend, Bread of Life, Lord, Creator, Son of the Living God, Only Begotten Son, Beloved Son, Holy One of Israel, King of Kings, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father .... It goes on and on, but the most important name of Jesus is Christ!

Then we have Immanuel, God With Us.

He is the Prince of Peace.

"Oh, what a bundle of joy!"

That's a phrase you've certainly heard when someone is referring to a newborn baby.

When God sent us Jesus, He certainly gave us a bundle of joy. However, we receive so much more than joy when we accept Jesus...

He is:

Relief from grief and sorrow, salvation, forgiveness, healing, joy, grace, mercy, and peace... The list could go on and on.

In this first message in our series, There's A Baby Coming, we'll unpack the scriptures that talk about all of the free gifts that come bundled in Jesus!

Everything in life works a little smoother if you implement a process or a plan.

You can help your children avoid a lot of life's mishaps and disasters by teaching them a process..

A few things to consider...

1. Teach your children to have a relationship with God.
2. Teach them how religion can either enhance or destroy their relationship with God.
3. Teach them to honor God with what they have.

In this' week's message, we look at the original family, Adam, Eve and their children, and how the lessons we read in scripture directly relate to our families.

All throughout scripture we see examples of the Good Shepherd, not just in Psalm 23...

Take the story of Jonah for instance... We can see how the Good Shepherd was in every part of the story of Jonah ... leading and guiding Jonah to green pastures.

A few takeaways from this week's message:

1. The Good Shepherd has a plan for you.
2. Disobedience brings disaster.
3. Obedience brings peace.
4. The Good Shepherd has prepared a way for you.
5. The Good Shepherd is all about ALL the flock!
