On episode 19 of the real estate people podcast, we sit down with Angela Pozantides, Dominic Tomasello and Ryan Burke to talk about 5 things that you should consider before choosing a real estate agent to list your house.
5. How long they’ve been in the industry
When looking for an agent you want to make sure that it's someone who isn't brand new but also that it's not someone who has been in real estate for a long time because they sometimes stick to their old ways and are not actually actively working in this market.
4. Sold volume Year to Date
Check out their past sales to see how active they are in the current market.
3. Sale Stats
Percent list price received and days on market are the two most important indicators of an agent’s ability to price a house. Price is virtually everything.
2. Ability to Maximize Value
Getting the most amount of money for the sale of your house is important and having an agent that knows how to do that is critical. Look at the agent’s record breaking sales to see if they have the ability to push the envelope for sale prices.
1. Trust and business relationships
Having an agent that you have a trusting business relationship with is critically important to the success of your deal. It is important to be able to always count on your agent to work in your best interest and be knowledgeable and responsive throughout the entirety of your deal.
Later in the show, Ryan talks about an experience he had when he offered a house that was For Sale By Owner. At first, the seller was reluctant to pay any kind of commission. Then Ryan explained the gravity of having an agent handling your deal at least on one end and eventually reached a commission agreement with the seller.
