Real People in Scripture episodes

  • John the Baptist | Season 2 - EP. 6

A relative of Jesus was used by God to fulfill prophecies of "an Elijah" who was to come and prepare the way of the Lord. There is an aspect of this person's life that stands out to me. His role was to be the "Shoshobin" or, as we might say today, the best man.

Join us for a few minutes as we consider how we might become less so that Jesus can become more. Thanks for listening to another glimpse into the lives of Real People, who live in Real Places, at very Real Times.

  • The Centurion - Incredible faith | EP. 18
There are so many incredible aspects of faith in this encounter between Jesus and a Roman leader. The man who held the earthly power, recognized that One with power much greater than his was present. And, recognizing that power, he said something that caused Jesus to marvel. Let’s reflect on this moment.

  • Joseph and Mary - What was it like? | Season 2 - EP. 5

There are so many questions to ask about the earthly parents of Jesus.

     - What did they talk about before Jesus was born?

     - How did they respond to people who acted as if they had sinned?

     - Did they ever get frustrated that they didn't live a "normal" life?

On this episode of Real People in Scripture, we'll ask some of those questions as well as going back in time to reflect on what it might have been like. I hope you are encouraged as you compare their lives to things that may be happening in yours. • Ezekiel - Would you remember? | Season 2 - EP. 4
When I read about the lives of the prophets, I can't help but wonder WHY?
    - Why did Ezekiel have to lay on his side for over a year?
    - Why did Jeremiah have to bury a new linen belt?
    - Why did Isaiah have to wear sackcloth?
There is a very important reason behind those acts. It's something that we should understand as we are seeking to live lives that reflect our faith. Listen to another glimpse into the lives of Real People, who live in Real Places, at very Real Times.

  • A Woman in Pain - Healing in the Wings | Season 2 - EP. 3

In the Gospels, we read of a woman who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years. Spending everything, she was left as an outcast with nothing. Why did she take the risk to reach out and touch the hem of Jesus' cloak? Was there a special significance to that act and did it factor into Jesus' eventual reply to her? • The Magi - Following the Prophecies | Season 2 - EP. 2

What's a magi? How many were there? What's up with Herod the Great? A group, perhaps the spiritual descendants of Daniel, traveled a great distance to meet the new king. The current king wasn't very happy about that. Listen to another glimpse into the lives of Real People, who live in Real Places, at very Real Times.

  • Nicodemus - Getting into the Spiritual | Season 2 - EP. 1

Nicodemus was a Pharisee who, unlike some of his fellow teachers, was on a quest for the Messiah. Seeing what Jesus had done and hearing how Jesus taught, he went to visit Jesus and talk. The conversation took a very "absurd" and radical turn. However, once he grasped the spiritual part, the door was open for him to be born again.

Joshua lived in the shadow of Moses. Moses had been the one whom God used to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. But as Joshua took them into the Promised Land 40 years later, He needed to remember one key detail about Who was now with him.
