I've been there furiously typing on my keyboard to somebody online. Getting ready to give them the business! But then I remember, it's not worth it! This person is not even my friend in real life. I don't even know the person in real life. Social media is not real!

A friend of mine came to me and shared a life-changing bombshell about her life. I remember being stuck...literally,  in the moments after. I didn't know what to say... How could I help her through something I had never been through? What could I say? What could I do?

I sat in my dorm room as the cackles in the next room grew. I wanted to disappear. I never wanted to show my face again. My roommates hated me and now they were having a dish session about me, with me sitting right there. I was embarrassed and deeply hurt.

Being bullied is never fun. It never feels good for people to treat you poorly, simply because of who you are. This week, I will hip you to some truths about the LGBTQ community. I don't believe that people intentionally set out to hurt other people, but they do so because of wrong information. Who hasn't been there? I think most people can say that they have avoided conflict for one reason or another during their lifetime.

But conflict is a natural part of life and relationships that we must learn how to navigate if we want to build deep connections. We cannot be real in our relationships with others if we aren't willing to communicate freely about our feelings.

We tell people we love them right? People are throwing that word around on television, social media, in our friendship circles- everybody is saying it! But is anybody doing it? You know, showing real love in the world?

So what do I mean by "real love"? I'm glad that you asked. I'm talking about that JESUS love. That type of love that keeps on giving and giving even though it's not getting much in return. Are we really unselfishly following Christ's path, and loving other people?

Corinthians 13:4-8 talks about the elements of great love. It shows us how to truly love others the way God loves us. But it's difficult! Because lots of people really don't deserve our love... they don't come through for us when we need them to, lie to us, talk about us behind our backs, ignore our feelings, and the list goes on. But we are still called to love the unlovable, because to God, we are the unlovables! But he loves us so deeply.

This episode offers us a quick heart check-up to see how fit we are to love others. I will talk about all of the elements of love in Corinthians to see how well we measure up. It's not about feeling bad for how you didn't love yesterday. Instead, it's about realizing how much you can love today!
