Broadway lost one of the greatest artists ever in the past few weeks. Stephen Sondheim was such a huge influence on my life and the lives of so many others. He has truly been an inspiration to millions...
I was introduced to his work in a time where I had very little hope in continuing theatre, quitting was at the forefront of my mind and "Into The Woods" reeled me back in, again. His musicals got me through the pandemic and has me still fully into musical theatre enough to make a podcast about it.
His passing was such a culture shock to people all around the United States, take a look at some of the celebrations of his life:

Douglas Lyons is the phenomenal Broadway playwright behind “Chicken & Biscuits”! Not only did he write that show, he also worked on the musical “Breathe” virtually during the pandemic!
His play opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre on October 10th and it was just announced it will be closing early on November 29th due to the loss of ticket sales while there was a breakthrough case of COVID-19 in the cast!
But, Douglas has since said that there will still be a life for the show after Broadway…
In this episode, we discuss his road to Broadway, how he reacted when he saw that Lin-Manuel Miranda saw (and loved) his play, handling the rave reviews from acclaimed critics like Ayanna Prescod and so many more, and his process to being grateful for his life!

Matt DeAngelis is a Broadway actor who is in the ensemble for Waitress the Musical (which just opened on Broadway on September 4th)! Before that, Matt made his Broadway debut in Diane Paulus’s revival of HAIR! Other productions Matt has worked on include the 1st national tour of American Idiot, 1st National Tour of Once, and Matt came back to Broadway with another Diane Paulus show- alongside Jessie Mueller and the rest of the amazing original Broadway cast of Waitress! He also went out on the tour with Waitress alongside Christine Dwyer, his real-life wife! There are so many things on Matt’s resume that I couldn’t fit in this short bio, but he is amazing and I was fortunate enough to see him on the road right before he left!
I am so excited for him to join my show this week! AND I cannot wait for you to hear this interview as we talk about coming back to Broadway, rehearsal guidelines, how tour life impacted him, what he learned on the road, and so much more!
