At one point in time, we all say the wrong word, wrong statement, or do the least expected of us. Unlike when we were younger, when we would probably get away with it with just a scolding or a simple smack in the hand or back, now we pay for our social sins dearly.
However, a few can imagine the guilt of the one who is required to pay for the atonement of their crimes. From family feuds to friendship squabbles, guilty adults carry the heavy end of the stick, whether the crime was intentional or not.
Life is hard to predict. Events of life are even harder, which makes it a very difficult journey to set out on your own with a bagge of regret on your shoulders.
Societies and communities do not make it easier. They add coal to an already burning flame, making it hard for both parties to move on. As a result, deep regret often leads to hopelessness and ultimately self-induced death.
