Casey is the father of two beautiful daughters, West and Rose. He’s a divorced dad who is so driven to find a cure for Rose so she can fully enjoy their lives in Texas. I had not really planned on an episode this week, but an opportunity raised its happy head. After him singing in the shower (which you will hear) left the bathroom and then returned to him laughing, found he had turned the water to cold and was enjoying the cold shower. Then I had to wrestle him for the shower head as he was determined to shower me with it, it was a moment I needed to laugh.. he made me laugh which could have been the opposite. His laugher is often infectious.

Timing is everything- was able to talk about my journey as Jamie and Joshua’s and how for 6-7 years I was not at my best mentally. I talk about these years, and how I have now progressed as a dad, and in my own self process, I have really felt the special bond with Joshua is so strong now for us both. While I can’t live in the past I can learn from it and I will continue to be the dad I want to be for both Joshua and Jamie.

I had a really full on week, COVID came to my world for the first time and threw the toys out of the pram. My stress and anxiety were under control and then, were not! Birthdays and Father’s Day (not in Japan though) were all in my week of mush... Douglas comes back for a chat about the days leading up to the birth of Micah, and it took 1.5 months before he was able to hold him! I talk about how the podcast ‘Man Enough’ changed my life. My masculinity as a dad plays a massive role in how I take care of Jamie. I try to unpack and talk openly about how understanding my own masculinity can positively impact Jamie and others. I want to make it clear that masculinity is not the problem, in fact it’s the toxic and negative aspects which hinders us from being bloody human. Last night as I lay in bed with Jamie, I decided to record. Recording him talking and communicating is special because often he doesn’t have this kind of conversation. More often it’s just sounds and high pitch noises which can drive me a little crazy.
