This week I sat down with (my baby daddy) Gabe Orta, Co-founder of Bar-Lab Hospitality aka @dashipapi aka my fiancé. He shared hs wild story of losing his dad, his grandmother and his at the age of 8 in Colombia to the Cartel violence, how that brought him to the US and the struggles he overcame to be one of the world's best and aclaimed restaurantuers. He is the founder of places like The Broken Shaker, Jolene Sound Room, Hoja Tacos- a culture creator and conscious manifestor. We have so much to learn from him, can't wait for you to dive in!

This week I sat down to talk to my fiancé Gabe, while we were in New York for the opening of his new bar (0:17). Gabe talks about his childhood growing up in Colombia during the 80s and how growing up surrounded by conflict led him to his spiritual journey (3:10). Gabe tells me about how moving to the US gave him the sense of freedom that was needed to open the gates of manifestation (11:36). Gabe explains learning about the power of the mind and the universal laws gave him the freedom and will to change his life and launch his business (19:23). We talk about the importance of inner work and grounding oneself, and how Gabe upholds this through self-discipline and ritual (30:47).

THINK: Is manifestation for the privileged? For a while the manifestation game has been epitomized by white privilege, as most people in the spiritual teaching and author space, historically, have been white or white passing. But for people like Gabe his anarchy was to dismiss his lack of privilege and almost delusionally pursue his dreams, as my boy Russ the musician would say. At some point you have to take radical responsibility for your visions, desires, and actions to pursue your biggest dreams.
