“In fire, gold is tested.” -  Sirach Chapter 2

Today we have my friend and favorite person, Neal McDonough! Neal is a devout Catholic, Husband, Father, Actor, and overall good person. Anytime I speak to Neal, I learn so much and wish I could talk to him for hours.

We cover a lot on this episode.

    • How Neal always puts his family and God first, then himself second and how that can lead to saying no to opportunities.
    • His early life playing every type of sport you can think of, then getting a contract to pitch for the Pittsburgh Pirates, while at the same time landing one of his first roles in Hollywood as Lou Gehrig.
    • How the love of his wife; Ruvé, keeps him a better man and the exciting producing journey they’re now going on together.
    • Then how he recognizes that as his career elevates, so does this responsibility to be God’s son and spread His word elevates.

There is so much more to look forward to! Get ready to hear the gospel and fall in love with Neal McDonough. And make sure to check out his next movie “Boon” coming to screens on April 1st!

    TRIGGER WARNING: Suicide

Today, we have Honey Beuf and Tess Kunik, a mother and daughter duo who are founders of The Liv Project; an organization created after Honey lost her daughter, and Tess her sister, Liv, to suicide back in 2019. It’s a tough conversation, but something that needs to be talked about. And both Honey and Tess have turned their grief into a chance to help others.

On this episode we talk about:

    • Liv’s life and how even while struggling with anxiety and depression, she was a light.
    • The hardest moments for Honey and Tess right after Liv’s death and how sharing stories about Liv’s life brings a huge release for them.
    • They share advice for what friends or peers can do to support each other during the grieving process. As well as the warning signs people should look out for when their child or someone they know might be suicidal.
    • What The Liv Project is and how they collaborate with different people who’ve been affected by suicide. Together they created a card game called “The Game that Goes There” which opens up conversation between people and breaks down walls.
    • Recognizing through therapy that grief is love and there are ways to take care of yourself.
    • Then finally, what they would tell Liv now if they had the chance to.

  • #45 - Solomzi Nqweni: Powering Through Gillian-Barré Syndrome

This episode, we spend some time with Solomzi Nqweni, a professional Cricket player for the Aberdeenshire Cricket Club in Scotland. At the young age of 26, Solomzi developed a rare auto immune disease called Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a disorder where the immune system attacks the nerves, leaving him in the hospital for 9 months before starting a long recovery process. 2 years later, he is here talking about what that long road to recovery looks like and the ways he is rebuilding himself.

This interview left me with tears in my eyes of how much I related to being at the top of your game in a sport you love the most, then in a blink of an eye, everything changes. I hope this resonates with you as much as it did with me.
